A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
   (2) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (3) If necessary, remove the lower inlet-plenum (Ref. AMM TASK 49-16-48-000-003).
4. Procedure
Subtask 49-16-48-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection of the condition of the air inlet plenum
   (1) Do an inspection of the condition of the air inlet plenum for signs of distress, loose acoustical splitters and/or missing splitter retention pins.
   (2) If inspection reveals only one loose splitter retention pin for upper half plenum, bond the pin (Ref. AMM TASK 49-20-00-340-001).
   (3) If inspection reveals two or more loose splitter retention pins for upper half plenum, the APU should be scheduled for removal with shop visit to repair this condition at earliest opportunity.
   (4) If inspection reveals missing or loose pins and/or loose or distressed splitters for only the lower half plenum, replacement of this part on wing is approved for post service bulletin 4500001-49-58 plenums. These plenums are identified as follows:
  • Plenum lower half part number 0332227730 with "SB 58" marked beside or near the plenum half part marking
    or
  • Plenum lower half part number 0332227960
NOTE: Lower inlet plenum with different part numbers than P/N 0332227730 (with SB58) or P/N 0332227960 cannot interchange.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) If removed, install the lower inlet-plenum (Ref. AMM TASK 49-16-48-400-002).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close the access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
