4. Procedure
Subtask 49-16-00-710-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Operational Test of the Air Intake Flap and Diverter
NOTE: For adjustment of the air-intake flap (Ref. AMM TASK 49-16-43-400-002).
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the overhead panel 25VU:
  • push the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch to the ON position.
On the overhead panel 25VU:
  • the ON legend in the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch comes on.
  • the air intake flap opens.
2.On the ECAM panel:
  • push the pushbutton APU.
On the ECAM systems page:
  • the FLAP OPEN indication comes on.
3.Examine the contour of the air intake flap and the air intake structure.
  • the contour should be in line. The maximum deviation B of the flap is 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.).
NOTE: If the air intake flap is not in line with the structure, remove the rubber cover on the lower part of the flap actuator rod for access. Disconnect the cotter pin, nut and the bolt that attaches the lower part of the actuator rod to the air intake flap. Adjust the actuator rod length to get the correct position. Then connect the actuator rod to the air intake flap.
4.On the overhead panel 25VU:
  • release the APU MASTER SW pushbutton to the off position.
On the overhead panel 25VU:
  • the ON legend in the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch goes off.
  • the air intake flap closes.
5.Measure the clearance C between the air intake nose and the air intake flap.
  • the clearance C should be between 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) to 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) with the air intake flap flexible seal compressed lightly with a maximum of 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
5. Close-up
