A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position:
  • in the cockpit on the Engine Control Panel 115VU to tell persons not to start the engine(s),
  • in the cockpit on the AIR COND Overhead Control Panel 30VU to tell persons not to push in the APU BLEED pushbutton switch,
  • on the HP ground connector to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
   (2) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed:
     (a) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR35 and FR36:
  • Make sure that the access panels 191BB and 191EB are removed.
     (b) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR36 and FR42:
  • Make sure that the access panel 191JB is removed.
     (c) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR42 and FR50:
     (d) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR46 and FR70:
     (e) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR46 and FR47:
     (f) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR47 and FR49:
  • Make sure that the access panel 151CW is removed.
     (g) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR49 and FR52:

4. Procedure
Subtask 36-12-41-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Bleed Air Ducts between FR35 and FR49:
F APU Bleed-Air Ducts ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts kept from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Installation of the bleed air duct between FR47 and FR49:
     (a) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the bleed air duct in the fuselage.
     (b) Put the bleed air duct (40) in position.
     (c) Install the clamps (11).
     (d) Torque the nut of the clamps to between 0.50 and 0.40 m.daN (44.25 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Installation of the bleed air ducts between FR45 and FR47:
     (a) Lubricate the seals (27) and (31) with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.
03QBB9) .
       1 Before you apply the lubricant, make a paste with pure water or white spirit.
NOTE: This material is a molybdenum disulfide powder.
     (b) Install the seal (27) on the bleed air duct (26).
     (c) Put the bleed air duct (26) in position.
     (d) Install the washers (28) and the bolts (29).
     (e) Tighten the bolts (29).
     (f) Install the seal (31) in the bleed air duct (30).
     (g) Put the bleed air duct (30) in position.
     (h) Install the connecting rods (39) with the bolts (34), the washers (33) and the nuts (32).
     (i) Tighten the nuts (32).
     (j) Install the clamp (11).
     (k) Torque the nut of the clamp to between 0.50 and 0.40 m.daN (44.25 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
     (l) If necessary adjust the bleed air ducts (30) and (40) with the connecting rods (39):
  • Make sure that there is no tension on the bleed air ducts (30) and (40).
     (m) Connect the bonding strap (37) with the bolt (38), the washer (35) and the nut (36).
     (n) Torque the nut (36) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (o) Do a check of the electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (p) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to:
  • Bolts (29) and washers (28)
  • Clamp (11).
   (6) Installation of the bleed air ducts between FR40 and FR45:
     (a) Lubricate the seal (20) with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) .
       1 Before you apply the lubricant, make a paste with pure water or white spirit.
NOTE: This material is a molybdenum disulfide powder.
     (b) Install the seal (20) on the bleed air duct (21).
     (c) Put the bleed air ducts (21) and (25) in position.
     (d) Install the bleed air duct (21) with the bolts (22), the washers (23) and the nuts (24).
     (e) Tighten the nuts (24).
     (f) Install the clamps (11).
     (g) Torque the nut of the clamps to between 0.50 and 0.40 m.daN (44.25 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
     (h) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.
12ACC1) to:
  • Bolts (22), washers (23) and nuts (24)
  • Clamp (11).
   (7) Installation of the bleed air ducts between FR35 and FR40:
     (a) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the bleed air duct (10).
     (b) Install the bleed air duct (8) into the bleed air duct (10).
     (c) Install the connecting rods (9) on the bleed air duct (10) with the bolts (3), the washers (2) and the nuts (1).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (1).
     (e) If necessary adjust the ducts with the connecting rods (9):
  • Make sure that there is no tension on the bleed air duct (8) and (10).
     (f) Connect the bonding strap (6) with the bolt (7), the washer (5) and the nut (4).
     (g) Torque the nut (4) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (h) Do a check of the electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (i) Install the bleed air duct (12) on the bleed air duct (8).
     (j) Put the spring rods (15) and (16) in position on the bleed air duct (12).
     (k) Connect the spring rods (15) and (16) with the bolts (17), the washers (14) and the nuts (13).
     (l) Tighten the nuts (13).
     (m) Put the bleed air duct (18) in position.
     (n) Install the clamps (11).
     (o) Torque the nut of the clamps to between 0.50 and 0.40 m.daN (44.25 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
     (p) Install the insulation muff (19) and safety it with the velcro strips.
     (q) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.
12ACC1) to the clamp (11).

B. Installation of the Bleed Air Duct between FR49 and FR80:
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the blanking caps from the bleed-air duct flanges (15) and (19).
   (4) Check the bleed-air duct flanges (15) and (19) for correct condition.
   (5) Lubricate the seal (16) with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) .
NOTE: This material is a molybdenum disulfide powder. Before you can apply it, you must make a paste. To do this, mix the powder with pure water or white spirit.
   (6) Install the seal (16) in the duct (13) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-26-00-910-002).
   (7) Install the duct (13).
   (8) Install the connecting rods (14) with the bolts (5), the washers (7) and the nuts (8).
   (9) Install the clamp (20) and torque the nut with the value given on the clamp.
   (10) Install the spring rods (11) with the bolts (12), the washers (10) and the nuts (9).
   (11) Make sure that the clearance "X" is parallel around the ducts.
NOTE: A deviation of 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) for a 3.5 in. (88.8998 mm) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.) for a 4.0 in. (101.5998 mm) duct is permitted.
   (12) If necessary adjust the ducts with the connecting rods (14).
NOTE: Make sure that there is no tension on the ducts.
   (13) Install the bonding straps (2) with the bolt (1), the washer (3) and the nut (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (14) Install the APU overheat sensing elements (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-22-17-400-001).

C. Installation of the Bleed Air Duct between FR80 and FR82
   (1) Install the bleed air ducts between FR80 and FR82 as follows:
     (a) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (b) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (c) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (d) Lubricate the new seals that follow with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) :
       1 This material is a molybdenum disulfide powder. Before you apply it, you must make a paste. To do this, mix the powder with water or white spirit.
     (e) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the flanges of the bleed air duct (61) and (67).
     (f) Make sure that the flanges of the bleed air duct (61) and (67) in the correct condition.
     (g) Align the bleed air duct (42) with the bleed air duct (67).
     (h) Install the clamp (66) on the bleed air duct (42) and (67).
     (i) TORQUE the screw of the clamp (66) to between 5.35 and 4.85 m.N (47.35 and 42.92 lbf.in )
T.
     (j) Install the new seal (65) on the bleed air duct (42).
     (k) Align the bleed air duct (35) with the bleed air duct (42).
     (l) Install the connecting rods (43), bolts (41), washers (44) and nuts (45).
     (m) TORQUE the nuts (45) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (n) Install the bonding strap (49), bolt (48), washer (47) and nut (46).
     (o) TORQUE the nut (46) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (p) Install the new seal (53) on the bleed air duct (31).
     (q) Align the bleed air duct (31) with the bleed air duct (35).
     (r) Install the spring rod (55), bolt (54), washer (56) and nut (57) on the bleed air duct (31).
     (s) TORQUE the nut (57) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (t) Install the connecting rods (34), bolts (36), washers (32) and nuts (33).
     (u) TORQUE the nuts (33) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
     (v) Install the bonding strap (39), bolt (40), washer (38) and nut (37).
     (w) TORQUE the nut (37) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (x) Install the new seals (52) on the bleed air duct (31).
     (y) Install the plates (58) and (59) on the flange (60).
     (z) Install the flange (60) on the bleed air duct (31) and the aircraft structure.
     (aa) Install the washers (50), bolts (51), washers (64), plates (63) and nuts (62).
     (ab) TORQUE the nuts (62) to between 0.63 and 0.57 m.N (5.58 and 5.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (ac) Do the electrical bonding check (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR35 and FR36:
     (a) Install the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
   (3) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR36 and FR42:
     (a) Install the access panel 191JB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panel 191JB.
   (4) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR42 and FR50:
     (a) Install the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
   (5) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR46 and FR47:
     (a) Install the partition panel 151BW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-001).
   (6) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR47 and FR49:
  • Install the access panel 151CW.
   (7) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR49 and FR52:
  • Install the access panel 151DW.
   (8) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR52 and FR55:
  • Install the access panel 151EW.
   (9) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR55 and FR58:
  • Install the access panel 151HW.
   (10) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR58 and FR59:
  • Install the access panel 151JW.
   (11) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR59 and FR62:
  • Install the access panel 161AW.

   (18) For the APU bleed-air ducts aft of FR80:

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR35 and FR36:
     (a) Install the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panels 191BB and 191EB.
   (3) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR36 and FR42:
     (a) Install the access panel 191JB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panel 191JB.
   (4) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR42 and FR50:
     (a) Install the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197KB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197KB.
   (5) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR46 and FR47:
   (6) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR47 and 47.4:
  • Install the access panel 151RW.
   (7) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR47.4 and FR49:
  • Install the access panel 151CW.
   (8) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR49 and FR52:
  • Install the access panel 151DW.
   (9) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR52 and FR55:
  • Install the access panel 151EW.
   (10) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR55 and FR58:
  • Install the access panel 151HW.
   (11) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR58 and FR59:
  • Install the access panel 151JW.
   (12) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR59 and FR62:
  • Install the access panel 161AW.
   (13) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR62 and FR63:
  • Install the access panel 161BW.
   (14) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR63 and FR65:
  • Install the access panel 161CW.
   (15) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR65 and FR70:
   (16) Close the AFT cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (17) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR70 and FR77:
  • Close the access door 312AR.
   (18) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR77 and FR80:
  • Close the access door 314AR.
   (19) For the APU bleed-air ducts aft of FR80:
   (20) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) from below the rear fuselage.
   (21) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

     (a) Install the access panel 191JB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panel 191JB.
   (4) For the APU bleed-air ducts between FR42 and FR50:
     (a) Install the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
     (b) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) from below the access panels 147AB, 147EB, 147FB and 197BB.
   (5) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR46 and FR53:
   (6) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR53 and FR56:
  • Install the access panel 151TW.
   (7) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR56 and FR58:
  • Install the access panel 151UW.
   (8) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR58 and FR59:
  • Install the access panel 151VW.
   (9) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR59 and FR62:
  • Install the access panel 161AW.
   (10) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR62 and FR63:
  • Install the access panel 161BW.
   (11) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR63 and FR65:
  • Install the access panel 161CW.
   (12) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR65 and FR70:
   (13) Close the AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (14) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR70 and FR77:
  • Close the access door 312AR.
   (15) For the APU bleed-air ducts between the FR77 and FR80:
  • Close the access door 314AR.
   (16) For the APU bleed-air ducts aft of FR80:
   (17) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) from below the rear fuselage.
   (18) If Additional Center Tanks (ACT) were removed, do the steps that follow:
     (a) If the Additional Center Tank No1 (ACT1) was removed, install the ACT1 (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-40).
     (b) If the Additional Center Tank No2 (ACT2) was removed, install the ACT2 (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-40).
     (c) If the Additional Center Tank No3 (ACT3) was removed, install the ACT3 (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-40).
     (d) If the Additional Center Tank No4 (ACT4) was removed, install the ACT4 (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-40).
     (e) If the Additional Center Tank No5 (ACT5) was removed, install the ACT5 (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-40).
     (f) If the Additional Center Tank No6 (ACT6) was removed, install the ACT6 (Ref. AMM D/O 28-11-27-40).
   (19) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
