3. Job Set-up
Subtask 36-11-44-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) On the overhead panel, on the AIR section of panel 30VU:

Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
Make sure that the ENG BLEED pushbutton switch is released (OFF legend on).
Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the APU and the engine bleed-air systems.

(3) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(4) On the HP ground connectors:

Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.

(5) Put on and attach a 98L12003001000 HARNESS,SAFETY before you start work in the work area (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position
(2) Make sure that these access panels are removed:
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 36-11-44-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Installation of the Bleed-Air Precooler-Exchanger Cold-Inlet
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:

For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).

(2) In the cockpit, on the SD bleed page:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).

(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Do a visual inspection of the seals (2) and (4) of the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (1):

If the seal (2) is damaged, discard and replace it with a new AIPC 36-11-86-01-390 SEAL (2) or AIPC 36-11-86-02-390 SEAL (2)
If the seal (4) is damaged, discard and replace the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (1) with a new AIPC 36-11-86-01-400 DIFFUSER (1) or AIPC 36-11-86-02-400 DIFFUSER (1).

NOTE: The seal (4) is part of the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (1).

(5) Install the seal (4) on the fan air valve (5).
(6) Install the seal (2) on the structure (3).
(7) Put the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (1) in position on the fan air valve (5) through the structure (3).
(8) Make sure that there is no clearance between the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (1) and the seal (2).
(9) Install the bleed-air precooler-exchanger (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-42-400-802).

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
