Removal of the Fan-Air Valve Control-Thermostat
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

B. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:

(2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
- make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on),
- make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off),
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
- make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off,
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
C. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the engine.
(2) Open the access doors:

4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the engine.
(2) Open the access door :

Subtask 36-11-43-020-052-H ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fan-Air Valve Control-Thermostat
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
(4) Disconnect the sense line (1) from the union (9).
(5) Remove the bolts (8) and (2) and the washers (5).
(6) Remove the nut plate (4).
(7) Remove the thermostat (3).
(8) Remove the packing (7) and discard it.
(9) Put PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected line ends.
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006)
- For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(3) Remove and discard the lockwire from the sense line (1). (4) Disconnect the sense line (1) from the union (9).
(5) Remove the bolts (8) and (2) and the washers (5).
(6) Remove the nut plate (4).
(7) Remove the thermostat (3).
(8) Remove the packing (7) and discard it.
(9) Put PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected line ends.
