Replacement of the Wing and Engine Scan Light-Lens


WARNING: DO NOT DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES AFTER YOU DE-ENERGIZE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS.
WARNING: WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.
NOTE: This procedure is only applicable to the halogen bulb and incandescent wing and engine scan light.

B. Get access to the avionics compartment.
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE.
     (a) Open access door 811 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 230.

4. Procedure
Subtask 33-49-11-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Replacement of the Wing and Engine Scan Light-Lens
   (1) Remove the screws (1).
   (2) Remove the lens (2) from the wing and engine scan light (4).
   (3) Install a new lens (2) on the wing and engine scan light (4) with the pin (5) in the pin hole (3).
   (4) Install the screws (1).
   (5) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 0.9 and 0.8 m.N (7.96 and 7.08 lbf.in ) T.

CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE LENS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY AND THE GLASS SUPPORT ASSEMBLY.
B. Replacement of the Wing and Engine Scan Light-Lens
   (1) Remove the studs (1) from the lens flange assembly (2).
   (2) Remove the lens flange assembly (2) from the lamp housing assembly (3).
   (3) Install a new lens flange assembly (2) on the lamp housing assembly (3).
   (4) Install the studs (1) on the lens flange assembly (2).

C. Replacement of the Wing and Engine Scan Light-Lens
   (1) If the lens is attached with rivets, remove the light module (Ref. AMM TASK 33-49-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 33-49-11-400-001).

D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s) if installed:

E. Operational Test of the Wing and Engine Scan Lights
   (1) Do the operational test of wing and engine scan lights (Ref. AMM TASK 33-49-00-710-001).

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close access door 811 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-002).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).

B. De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
