4. Procedure
Subtask 30-21-49-420-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Anti-ice Ducts
   (1) Remove the blanking plugs from the ducts, the hose, and the tube assemblies.
   (2) Connect the tube (50) to the lower high-pressure manifold duct and the union.
F Anti-ice Ducts ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (3) TORQUE the nuts on the couplings to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the union on the pneumatic duct and the union on the fireshield when you torque the tube (50) coupling nuts.
   (4) Connect the tube (40) to the union.
   (5) Attach the tube (40) to the engine brackets and the tube fairlead with the clamps (45), the bolts (20), the washers (25), and the nuts (30).
   (6) TORQUE the nut on the coupling to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the union on the fireshield when you torque the tube (40) coupling nut.
   (7) Connect the hose (35) to the tube (40).
F Anti-ice Ducts ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (8) TORQUE the nut on the coupling to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fitting on the tube when you torque the hose (35) coupling nut.
   (9) Attach the tube (15) to the lugs on the forward anti-ice duct (80) with the bolts (20), the washers (25), and the nuts (30).
   (10) Attach the tube (15) to the support bracket of the anti-ice duct with the nut (120) and the washer (125).
   (11) TORQUE the nut (120) and the hose (35) coupling nut to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fitting on the tube when you torque the hose (35) coupling nut.
   (12) Connect the forward anti-ice duct (80).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE LATCH AND HINGE OF THE COUPLING DO NOT TOUCH ADJACENT COMPONENTS OR COWL DOORS (WHEN CLOSED). DO NOT USE FORCE TO ENGAGE THE SADDLE WASHER IN THE RECESS OF THE OTHER COUPLING HALF. DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: TWO TYPES OF COUPLINGS ARE USED ON THE BLEED AIR DUCTS. IT IS POSSIBLE TO INSTALL ONE OF THESE TYPES INCORRECTLY. WHEN YOU INSTALL THIS TYPE OF COUPLING, MAKE SURE THE SLIDE PART OF THE COUPLING (WITH THE SADDLE WASHER) ENGAGES THE RECESSES OF THE OTHER HALF OF THE COUPLING. IF THE COUPLING IS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, IT CAN DISENGAGE AND CAUSE LARGE AIR LEAKS AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE.
     (a) Use the new
AIPC 30-21-49-01-070 SEAL (75) and the couplings (70) to connect the forward anti-ice duct (80), (with the tube (15) attached to it) to:
       1 the rear anti-ice duct (85),
       2 the anti-ice valve (5).
   (13) Install the latch and hinge of the coupling.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE LATCH AND HINGE OF THE COUPLING DO NOT TOUCH ADJACENT COMPONENTS OR COWL DOORS (WHEN CLOSED). DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) If the coupling (70) is of the type shown on
F Duct Coupling Installation ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
try to move the slide. If the slide moves, open the coupling. Close the coupling so that the saddle washer is in the recess of the other half of the coupling. If the slide does not move, replace the coupling (70).
     (b) TORQUE the nut on the coupling (70) to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN ) T. Tap hit the coupling perimeter with a hammer not made of metal. Torque the nut again to the same torque value and tap hit the coupling perimeter again. Do this procedure again, then torque the nut to the same value.
   (14) Connect the hose (10) to the tube (15) and to the union on the valve (5).
   (15) TORQUE the hose (10) coupling nuts to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the union on the valve and the fitting on the tube when you torque the hose (10) coupling nuts.
