Installation of the RAT Filter Element
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
(6) Make sure that the RAT is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
Subtask 29-22-51-865-104-A WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002). (2) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
- in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
- on the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
(6) Make sure that the RAT is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

Subtask 29-22-51-420-068-A
A. Installation of the Filter Element
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) For RAT with part numbers 759998, 761618 or 762308:
(a) Do a check of the filter element (6) and make sure that it is clean and not damaged.
(b) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-220 PACKINGS (5) and to the mating surface on filter element (6).
(c) Install the packings (5) on the filter element (6).
(d) Apply some Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the bypass valve assembly (4).
(e) Install the bypass valve assembly (4) in the filter element (6).
(f) Remove the blanking cap from the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(g) Install the filter element (6) with the bypass valve assembly (4) and the helical compression spring (3) in the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(h) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-190 PACKING (2) and to the filter cap (1).
(i) Install the packing (2) on the filter cap (1).
(j) Loosely install the filter cap (1) in the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(k) TORQUE the filter cap (1) to between 3.4 and 2.4 m.daN (25.07 and 17.70 lbf.ft )

(4) For RAT with part numbers 766352, 766352A or 766352B:
(a) Do a check of the filter element (9) and make sure that it is clean and not damaged.
(b) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-221 PACKING (8) and to the mating surface on filter element (9).
(c) Install the packing (8) on the filter element (9).
(d) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-190 PACKING (10), to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-187 PACKING (11) and to the mating surface on bypass valve assembly (12).
(e) Install the packings (10) and (11) on the bypass valve assembly (12).
(f) Install the bypass valve assembly (12) on the filter element (9).
(g) Remove the blanking cap from the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(h) Loosely install the filter element (9) with the bypass valve assembly (12) in the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(i) TORQUE the bypass valve assembly (12) to between 3.4 and 2.4 m.daN (25.07 and 17.70 lbf.ft )

(d) Apply some Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the bypass valve assembly (4).
(e) Install the bypass valve assembly (4) in the filter element (6).
(f) Remove the blanking cap from the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(g) Install the filter element (6) with the bypass valve assembly (4) and the helical compression spring (3) in the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(h) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-190 PACKING (2) and to the filter cap (1).
(i) Install the packing (2) on the filter cap (1).
(j) Loosely install the filter cap (1) in the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(k) TORQUE the filter cap (1) to between 3.4 and 2.4 m.daN (25.07 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
. (4) For RAT with part numbers 766352, 766352A or 766352B:
(a) Do a check of the filter element (9) and make sure that it is clean and not damaged.
(b) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-221 PACKING (8) and to the mating surface on filter element (9).
(c) Install the packing (8) on the filter element (9).
(d) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-190 PACKING (10), to the new AIPC 29-22-51-01-187 PACKING (11) and to the mating surface on bypass valve assembly (12).
(e) Install the packings (10) and (11) on the bypass valve assembly (12).
(f) Install the bypass valve assembly (12) on the filter element (9).
(g) Remove the blanking cap from the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(h) Loosely install the filter element (9) with the bypass valve assembly (12) in the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7).
(i) TORQUE the bypass valve assembly (12) to between 3.4 and 2.4 m.daN (25.07 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
. B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Pressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(3) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003).
(4) Examine the connection of the filter cap (1) and the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7) and make sure that there is no leak.
(6) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
Subtask 29-22-51-710-059-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Pressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(3) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003).
(4) Examine the connection of the filter cap (1) and the RAT hydraulic pump housing (7) and make sure that there is no leak.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.
(5) Retract the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-006). (6) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
D. Test
(1) Do the operational test of the manual deployment and the retraction of the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-710-007).
(2) Make sure that the RAT filter indicator stays in the in position.

A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.

(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
