Removal of the Engine 1 Pump Suction Quick-Disconnect Half-Coupling

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-11-39-860-067-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the slats are in the fully retracted position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (4) Depressurize the related hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
     (a) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off).
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the APU BLEED pushbutton switch.
   (2) In the cockpit, on the HYD section of panel 40VU:
     (a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system.
   (3) Open access door 195BB.
     (a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system.
   (4) Open access door 197CB.
     (a) On the ground service panel, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system.
   (5) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (6) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC GND PWR/1(2).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
   (2) Open left fan-cowl door 437AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803).
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-39-020-058-A
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
A. Removal of the Engine 1 Pump Suction Quick-Disconnect Half-Coupling
   (1) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the suction-hose coupling to the hydraulic pump.
   (2) Disconnect the half coupling (1) from the fluid disconnect panel (2).
   (3) Hold the suction hose (3) in position and remove the half coupling (1).
NOTE: This prevents a flow of hydraulic fluid.
   (4) Put the COVER - BLANKING on the fluid disconnect panel (2) and on the suction hose (3).
