Removal of the ACT Fuel-Transfer-Pump Mounting-Plate

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-28-31-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
   (3) On the FUEL section of HYD/FUEL panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
   (4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
  • On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
  • On the FUEL section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
  • On the ENG/APU FIRE panel on overhead panel 20VU to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system
  • On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) section of control panel 28VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
   (5) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001) when you do work on the fuel system.
   (6) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the MLG doors.

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the right MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at the right MLG door.
   (3) Remove the protective cover of the ACT-equipment support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).

E. Preparation for Removal
   (1) Remove the ACT fuel-transfer pump-element (Ref. AMM TASK 28-28-51-000-001).

F. Get Access
   (1) Get access to the fuel center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-31-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Mounting Plate
   (1) Remove the nut (3), the washer (5) and the bolt (6) to disengage the bonding strap (4).
   (2) Remove the nuts (9), the washers (10) and the bolts (11) to disengage the Tee-union (12).
   (3) Remove the bolt (15) and the washer (16).
   (4) Disconnect the pipe (14).
   (5) Remove and discard the packing (13).
   (6) Remove the bolts (17) and the nuts (19) to disengage the pipe (18).
   (7) Loosen the nut (20) and disengage the pipe (21).
   (8) Remove and discard the O-ring (22).
   (9) Remove the six bolts (1) and the six washers (2) and disengage the canister (8).
   (10) Remove and discard the packing (7).
   (11) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
Subtask 28-28-31-020-050-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the ACT Fuel-Transfer-Pump Mounting-Plate
   (1) Remove the nut (29), the washer (28) and the bolt (26) and disconnect the bonding strap (27) from the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (2) Remove the nut (30) and the bolt (32) and disconnect the bonding strap (31) from the pipe (21).
   (3) Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the bolt (11) and disconnect the bonding strap (10) from the elbow (9).
   (4) Loosen the union (22) and the union (18).
   (5) Disconnect the pipe (21) from the union (18) and the connection bulkhead (23).
   (6) Remove the union (19) from the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (7) Remove and discard the O-ring (20).
   (8) Loosen the nut (16) and disconnect the pipe (15) from the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (9) Remove and discard the O-ring (17).
   (10) Remove the nuts (24) and the bolts (12) and disconnect the bonding strap (13) from the pipe (14).
   (11) Disconnect the pipe (14) from the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (12) Hold the elbow (9) and remove the bolts (6) and the washers (5).
   (13) Carefully remove the elbow (9) from the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (14) Remove and discard the O-ring (4).
   (15) Hold the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25) and remove the bolts (1) and the washers (2).
   (16) Remove the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25) from the structure.
   (17) Remove and discard the O-ring (3).
   (18) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
