- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Extend the spoiler:
(a) Extend the spoiler (1) for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(3) On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panel 23VU, make sure that the SEC 1 pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on).
(4) On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panel 24VU, make sure that the SEC 2 and SEC 3 pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) On the center pedestal, make sure that the SPEED BRAKE control lever is set to RET.
(6) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 27-64-44-941-059-A (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Extend the spoiler:
(a) Extend the spoiler (1) for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(3) On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panel 23VU, make sure that the SEC 1 pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on).
(4) On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panel 24VU, make sure that the SEC 2 and SEC 3 pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) On the center pedestal, make sure that the SPEED BRAKE control lever is set to RET.
(6) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
B. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) In the cockpit:
(a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
(3) On the ground:
(a) Open access doors 197CB, 198CB and 197EB.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
Subtask 27-64-44-865-050-A (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) In the cockpit:
(a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
- On the overhead panel, on the hydraulic section of panel 40VU, to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems
- On the overhead panel, on FLT CTL panels 23VU and 24VU, to tell persons not to push the SEC pushbutton switches
- On the center pedestal, on the SPEED BRAKE control lever, to tell persons not to operate it
- On the flight controls, to tell persons not to operate them.
(3) On the ground:
(a) Open access doors 197CB, 198CB and 197EB.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
- On the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system, to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
- On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system
- On the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system, to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system.

- For the right wing, panels 675EB and 675FB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004).

A. Removal of Spoiler 4
(1) Remove the nuts (56), washers (54) and bolts (53), and disconnect the bonding straps (55) from the spoiler (1).
(2) Remove the nuts (47) and (36), and the locking plates (46) and (35).
(3) Remove the nut (26), locking plate (25), spacer (24) and bolt (23).
(4) Disconnect the spoiler servo control:
(b) Remove the locking cap (2), nut (3) and washer (10).
(5) Prepare the spoiler (1) for the removal:
1 Support the servo control after you disconnect it from the spoiler (1).
2 Support the spoiler (1) in the extended position after you disconnect it from the servo control.
(b) Remove the hinge pin (5) from the rod eye end of the servo control.
(c) Disconnect the servo control from the spoiler (1) and carefully lower it onto the supports.
(d) Make sure that the spoiler (1) is in position on the supports.
(e) Remove the sliding bush (4) and the flanged bush (6).
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (16) and (27) from the locking caps (11) and (22).
(b) Remove and discard the cotter pins (48) and (37) from the locking caps (45) and (34).
(c) Remove the locking caps (11), (45), (34) and (22).
(d) Remove the nuts (12), (44), (33) and (21), and the washers (17), (49), (38) and (28).
(7) Remove the hinge pins (42), (30) and (18).
(8) Collect the sliding bushes (43), (31), (32) and (20).
(9) Remove the spoiler (1):
(a) Pull the spoiler (1) rearward to:
1 Disengage the spoiler (1) from the fixed fittings of the rear spar.
2 Disengage the spoiler link assembly (19) from the rear spar.
(b) Pull the spoiler (1) outboard to disengage the spoiler link assembly (13) from the shaft (15).
(c) Remove the spoiler (1).
(10) Collect the spacer (14).
Subtask 27-64-44-020-050-G ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the nuts (56), washers (54) and bolts (53), and disconnect the bonding straps (55) from the spoiler (1).

USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (9) from the locking cap (2). (b) Remove the locking cap (2), nut (3) and washer (10).
(5) Prepare the spoiler (1) for the removal:
CAUTION:
SUPPORT THE SERVO CONTROL 7.5kg (16.5lb) AND THE SPOILER APPROXIMATELY 15kg (33lb). THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO:
(a) Install supports on the wing structure below the spoiler (1) and the servo control to:- THE HYDRAULIC LINES
- THE ELECTRICAL CABLES
- THE STRUCTURE.
1 Support the servo control after you disconnect it from the spoiler (1).
2 Support the spoiler (1) in the extended position after you disconnect it from the servo control.
(b) Remove the hinge pin (5) from the rod eye end of the servo control.
(c) Disconnect the servo control from the spoiler (1) and carefully lower it onto the supports.
(d) Make sure that the spoiler (1) is in position on the supports.
(e) Remove the sliding bush (4) and the flanged bush (6).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(6) Disconnect the spoiler: (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (16) and (27) from the locking caps (11) and (22).
(b) Remove and discard the cotter pins (48) and (37) from the locking caps (45) and (34).
(c) Remove the locking caps (11), (45), (34) and (22).
(d) Remove the nuts (12), (44), (33) and (21), and the washers (17), (49), (38) and (28).
(7) Remove the hinge pins (42), (30) and (18).
(8) Collect the sliding bushes (43), (31), (32) and (20).
(9) Remove the spoiler (1):
(a) Pull the spoiler (1) rearward to:
1 Disengage the spoiler (1) from the fixed fittings of the rear spar.
2 Disengage the spoiler link assembly (19) from the rear spar.
(b) Pull the spoiler (1) outboard to disengage the spoiler link assembly (13) from the shaft (15).
(c) Remove the spoiler (1).
(10) Collect the spacer (14).
A. Removal of Spoiler 4

(6) Prepare the spoiler (1) for the removal:
1 Support the servo control after you disconnect it from the spoiler (1).
2 Support the spoiler (1) in the extended position after you disconnect it from the servo control.

(3) Remove the nut (36), locking plate (35), spacer (41), bolt (39) and washer (40).
(4) Remove the nut (26), locking plate (25), spacer (24), bolt (23) and washer (29).
(5) Disconnect the spoiler servo control:
WARNING:

(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (9) from the locking cap (2). (b) Remove the locking cap (2), nut (3) and washer (10).
(6) Prepare the spoiler (1) for the removal:

(10) Remove the spoiler (1):
