Installation of the Torque Shafts
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the slat/flap controls.

(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the slat/flap controls.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in the applicable position.
(4) Make sure that the applicable spoiler is in the 'M' (Maintenance) position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(5) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is on the piston rod of the servo-control.
(6) Make sure that the applicable access panel is removed:
Subtask 27-54-45-865-079-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008). (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in the applicable position.
(4) Make sure that the applicable spoiler is in the 'M' (Maintenance) position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(5) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is on the piston rod of the servo-control.
(6) Make sure that the applicable access panel is removed:
- for 6216CM, panel 573CB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-002)
- for 6226CM, panel 575DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004)
- for 6266CM, panel 673CB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-002)
- for 6276CM, panel 675DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004).
C. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the parts:
(a) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the:

2 FOR [6266CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
3 FOR [6226CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
4 FOR [6276CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
5 Bolts (60)
6 Flanges of the universal joint (57) and the torque shaft (58).
(2) Dry the parts:
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-Fretting Paste - (Material No.03FDB1) to the torque shaft splines.
Subtask 27-54-45-420-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the parts:
(a) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the:

(2) Dry the parts:
WARNING:
WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR:
- USE THE CORRECT PROTECTION (FACE SHIELD OR GOGGLES)
- DO NOT POINT THE AIRFLOW AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS.
WARNING:
DO NOT LET COMPRESSED GAS TOUCH YOUR SKIN. THE GAS CAN GO THROUGH THE SKIN AND MAKE BUBBLES IN THE BLOOD. THIS CONDITION CAN KILL YOU.
(a) Use compressed air to dry the cleaned areas. (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-Fretting Paste - (Material No.03FDB1) to the torque shaft splines.
B. Installation of the Torque Shafts
(1) Install the universal joint (57) and align its flange with the flange of the steady bearing.
(2) Install the torque shaft (58) and attach it with the bolts (60) and the nuts (59).
(3) TORQUE the nuts (59) to between 1.24 and 1.02 m.daN (109.73 and 90.27 lbf.in )

(4) Make sure that:
Subtask 27-54-45-420-057-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the universal joint (57) and align its flange with the flange of the steady bearing.
(2) Install the torque shaft (58) and attach it with the bolts (60) and the nuts (59).
(3) TORQUE the nuts (59) to between 1.24 and 1.02 m.daN (109.73 and 90.27 lbf.in )
. (4) Make sure that:
- you cannot see the spline engagement groove at the movable joint
- the dimension A is a minimum of 6.5 mm (0.2559 in.) at the movable joint.
B. Installation of the Torque Shafts 6216CM(6266CM)/6226CM(6276CM)
(1) Install the plunging joint (57) and align its flange with the flange of the steady bearing.
(2) Install the torque shaft (58) and attach it with the bolts (60) and the nuts (59).
(3) TORQUE the nuts (59) to between 1.24 and 1.02 m.daN (109.73 and 90.27 lbf.in )

(4) Make sure that:
Subtask 27-54-45-916-056-A (1) Install the plunging joint (57) and align its flange with the flange of the steady bearing.
(2) Install the torque shaft (58) and attach it with the bolts (60) and the nuts (59).
(3) TORQUE the nuts (59) to between 1.24 and 1.02 m.daN (109.73 and 90.27 lbf.in )
. (4) Make sure that:
- you cannot see the spline engagement groove at the movable joint
- the dimension A is a minimum of 6.5 mm (0.2559 in.) at the movable joint.
C. Application of Special Materials
(1) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the:

- nuts (59)
- bolts (60)
- flanges of the universal joint (57) and the torque shaft (58).
D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Operational Test of the Flap System
(1) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Retract the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(3) Do an operational test of the flap system (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-00-710-001). Make sure that the operation of the torque shafts is satisfactory.
5. Close-up(1) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Retract the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(3) Do an operational test of the flap system (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-00-710-001). Make sure that the operation of the torque shafts is satisfactory.
Subtask 27-54-45-410-056-A
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER from the piston rod of the servo-control.
(3) Put the applicable spoiler back to the 'O' (Operation) position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(4) On the servo-control, make sure that the pointer on the hex-head is opposite the letter 'O' (Operation) on the housing.
(5) Install the applicable access panel:

Subtask 27-54-45-942-057-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER from the piston rod of the servo-control.

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
