Subtask 27-41-45-860-050-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002)
(2) Do the EIS start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001)
(3) Pressurize the Yellow and the Green hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001) .
(4) On the center pedestal, set the pitch-trim control wheel to the zero position.
(5) Lock the pitch trim control wheel with the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-001) to prevent movement of the trimmable horizontal stabilizer .
(6) Depressurize the Yellow and the Green hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001) .
(7) In the cockpit, on the center pedestal, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pitch controls.
(8) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel, on the hydraulic section of panel 40VU, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tells persons not to pressurize the Yellow and the Green hydraulic systems
Subtask 27-41-45-865-050-A (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002)
(2) Do the EIS start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001)
(3) Pressurize the Yellow and the Green hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001) .
(4) On the center pedestal, set the pitch-trim control wheel to the zero position.
(5) Lock the pitch trim control wheel with the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-001) to prevent movement of the trimmable horizontal stabilizer .
(6) Depressurize the Yellow and the Green hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001) .
(7) In the cockpit, on the center pedestal, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pitch controls.
(8) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel, on the hydraulic section of panel 40VU, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tells persons not to pressurize the Yellow and the Green hydraulic systems

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the access door 312AR.
(2) Open the access door 312AR of the accessory compartment.

D. Safety Precaution
(1) Put the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER in the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
(2) Put the 98D27407532000 RIGGING PIN - THS MECHANICAL CONTROL in the rocker assembly of the cable tension regulator.
Subtask 27-41-45-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER in the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
(2) Put the 98D27407532000 RIGGING PIN - THS MECHANICAL CONTROL in the rocker assembly of the cable tension regulator.
E. Get Access
(1) Get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables.
(a) According to the aircraft configuration during the maintenance phase, there are two possibilities to get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables. you can use the more appropriate procedure that follow:
(3) Make sure that there is no tension on the THS control cables.
Subtask 27-41-45-010-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables.
(a) According to the aircraft configuration during the maintenance phase, there are two possibilities to get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables. you can use the more appropriate procedure that follow:
- In zone 241, remove the applicable cabin floor panels between FR-35 and FR-42 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-32-12-000-002) or
- In zone 131, in the forward cargo compartment, remove the applicable ceiling panels between FR-31 and FR-34 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-002)
(3) Make sure that there is no tension on the THS control cables.
E. Get Access
(1) Get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables.
(a) According to the aircraft configuration during the maintenance phase, there are two possibilities to get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables. you can use the more appropriate procedure that follow:

4. Procedure(1) Get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables.
(a) According to the aircraft configuration during the maintenance phase, there are two possibilities to get access to the turnbuckles of the THSA cables. you can use the more appropriate procedure that follow:
- In zone 241, remove the applicable cabin floor panels between FR-35 and FR-47 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-32-12-000-002) or
- In zone 131, in the forward cargo compartment, remove the applicable ceiling panels between FR-35.2 and FR-35.5 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-002)
(3) Make sure that there is no tension on the THS control cables.
Subtask 27-41-45-020-050-A
A. Removal of the Drive Shaft Assy
(2) Release the quick-release fasteners (33) on the upper chain cover (17) and the lower chain cover (41).
(3) Remove the upper chain cover (17).
(4) Remove the lower chain cover (41) and the chain cover base plate (48).
(5) Disconnect the chain (47) from its sprocket (11):
(a) Remove the screws (8) and disconnect the chain guard (7) from its sprocket (11) and from the chain guard base plate (6).
(b) Retain the screws (8) and the chain guard (7).
(c) Disconnect the chain (47) from its sprocket (11) and attach the chain with a CORD - PATCH to the airframe structure.
(6) Remove the drive shaft assy from the airframe structure:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (14).
(b) Remove the nut (13), the washers (12), (10), and the bolt (9) from the sprocket (11).
(c) Remove the sprocket (11) from the sprocket shaft (19).
(d) Remove and discard the cotter pins (27).
(e) Remove the nuts (28), the washers (29), and the bolts (32).
(f) Remove and discard the cotter pins (4).
(g) Remove the nuts (3), the washers (2) and the bolts (1) from the bracket (37).
(h) Remove the bracket (37) and the drive shaft assy from the airframe structure.
(7) Disassemble the drive shaft assy:
(a) Before disassembly of the drive shaft, make marks on the parts to perform their re-installation easily
(b) Disengage the sprocket shaft (19) and the drive shaft assy from the bracket (37).
(c) Remove and discard the cotter pins (21).
(d) Remove the nuts (22), the washers (23), and the bolts (18).
(e) Remove the bolts (26) and the spacers (20).
(f) Remove the link plate (30) and the swivel plates (24).
(8) Disassemble the bracket assembly:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (34).
(b) Remove the nuts (35), the washers (36), and the bolts (5).
(c) Disconnect the chain guard base plate (6) from the bracket (37).
(e) Remove the screws (40) and the flange (39).
(f) Remove the needle bearings (38) from the bracket (37).
(g) Put the needle bearings in PAPER - WAX to prevent corrosion.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(1) Remove the screws (15) and the washers (16) from the upper chain cover (17). (2) Release the quick-release fasteners (33) on the upper chain cover (17) and the lower chain cover (41).
(3) Remove the upper chain cover (17).
(4) Remove the lower chain cover (41) and the chain cover base plate (48).
(5) Disconnect the chain (47) from its sprocket (11):
(a) Remove the screws (8) and disconnect the chain guard (7) from its sprocket (11) and from the chain guard base plate (6).
(b) Retain the screws (8) and the chain guard (7).
(c) Disconnect the chain (47) from its sprocket (11) and attach the chain with a CORD - PATCH to the airframe structure.
(6) Remove the drive shaft assy from the airframe structure:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (14).
(b) Remove the nut (13), the washers (12), (10), and the bolt (9) from the sprocket (11).
(c) Remove the sprocket (11) from the sprocket shaft (19).
(d) Remove and discard the cotter pins (27).
(e) Remove the nuts (28), the washers (29), and the bolts (32).
(f) Remove and discard the cotter pins (4).
(g) Remove the nuts (3), the washers (2) and the bolts (1) from the bracket (37).
(h) Remove the bracket (37) and the drive shaft assy from the airframe structure.
(7) Disassemble the drive shaft assy:
(a) Before disassembly of the drive shaft, make marks on the parts to perform their re-installation easily
(b) Disengage the sprocket shaft (19) and the drive shaft assy from the bracket (37).
(c) Remove and discard the cotter pins (21).
(d) Remove the nuts (22), the washers (23), and the bolts (18).
(e) Remove the bolts (26) and the spacers (20).
(f) Remove the link plate (30) and the swivel plates (24).
(8) Disassemble the bracket assembly:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (34).
(b) Remove the nuts (35), the washers (36), and the bolts (5).
(c) Disconnect the chain guard base plate (6) from the bracket (37).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(d) Cut and remove the lockwire from the screws (40). (e) Remove the screws (40) and the flange (39).
(f) Remove the needle bearings (38) from the bracket (37).
(g) Put the needle bearings in PAPER - WAX to prevent corrosion.
