3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ceiling panel 261BC is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-42-000-002).

   (1) Make sure the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure the ceiling panel 261BC is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-42-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-65-35-560-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) If the aircraft registration code/number (ICAO) is changed, refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 25-65-00-840-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ELT is programmed correctly.
NOTE: If the aircraft is equipped with an Aircraft Identification Module (142MX), where the code is permanently stored, it is not necessary to change that code.

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
     (a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC and remove the unwanted material (14) from:
  • The electrical connector (8) or the programming dongle (19) (if installed)
  • The RCP connector (12).
     (b) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and clean:
  • The electrical connector (8) or the programming dongle (19) (if installed)
  • The RCP connector (12).
     (c) Make sure that the components are dried before you continue the work.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the ON/OFF/ARM switch (10) is set to OFF.
   (4) If the maintenance dongle is connected, disconnect it.
   (5) Install the ELT (5) as follows:
     (a) Carefully hold the ELT (5) and the auxiliary antenna (4) in position on the bracket (1).
     (b) Be careful with the auxiliary antenna (4) when you install the ELT (5). The auxiliary antenna (4) is attached to the ELT (5) with the safety strap (17).
     (c) Bend the auxiliary antenna (4) back and push the auxiliary antenna (4) into the loops (25) on the straps (3).
     (d) Push the straps (3) into the buckles (2).
     (e) Pull the straps (3) out tightly and attach the burr-strips.
   (6) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (7) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (8) Connect the electrical connector (8) or the programming-dongle (19) (if installed) to the RCP connector (12).
   (9) Connect the antenna connector (9) to the ANT connection (11).
   (10) Safety the connection between the electrical connector (8) or the programming-dongle (19) (if installed) and the RCP connector (12).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (11) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) (14) to the connection.
   (12) Wind the heat protection material around the external antenna connector (9).
   (13) Use the CORD DIA 1,1 MM (0,043 IN) - FIBERGLASS (DAN107-1) and attach the heat protection material to the external antenna connector (9).
   (14) Apply Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) to the knots of the CORD DIA 1,1 MM (0,043 IN) - FIBERGLASS (DAN107-1).

B. Installation of the ELT 110MX
F ELT 110MX ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the ARM/OFF/TX switch (11) is set to the OFF position.
   (4) Carefully connect the ELT (3) to the AIM (2) and hold it in position on the support (1).
   (5) Install the bolts (4), the washers (5) and the nuts (6).
   (6) Torque the bolts (4) to between 0.45 and 0.35 m.daN (39.82 and 30.97 lbf.in ) T.
   (7) Connect the electrical connector 110MX-A (7) to the connector (9).
   (8) Connect the antenna connector 110MX-B (8) to the connector (10).
   (9) Set the ARM/OFF/TX switch (11) to the ARM position during the first five minutes after the hour (between XX:00 hours and XX:05 hours).
NOTE: The ELT system transmits a short signal at a frequency of 121.5 MHz, 243 MHz (military) and 406 MHz for approximately 1 second.

B. Installation of the ELT
F ELT 110MX ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: PULL THE TOGGLE SWITCH BEFORE YOU SET IT TO THE "ON", "OFF" OR "ARMED" POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the toggle switch (13) is set to OFF.
   (4) Carefully hold the ELT (11) in position on the support (1).
   (5) Install the bolts (3) and the washers (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (6) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
   (7) If you selected the beacon serial-number protocol-setting for the activation/identification module (5), install the ELT (11) together with the activation/identification module (5):
     (a) Put the wire lanyard (10) in position on the aircraft structure (1) and install the screw (9).
     (b) Tighten the screw (9).
   (8) If you selected the 24-bit address protocol-setting for the activation/identification module (5), connect the activation/identification module (5) to the ELT (11):
     (a) Make sure that the O-ring seal (8) is in a correct and serviceable condition.
NOTE: You can use the O-ring seal (8) more than one time. It must be replaced after 5 years when you do the servicing of the battery.
     (b) If you must install a new O-ring seal (8), use the
AIPC 25-65-35-01-010 O-RING FROM THE IDENTIFICATION-MODULE SERVICING-KIT (8).
     (c) Apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.
03JBA1) to the O-ring seal (8) and put it in position on the ELT (11).
     (d) Carefully put the activation/identification module (5) in position and make sure that the aircraft symbol on the label (7) points in flight direction.
     (e) Install the screws (6).
     (f) TORQUE the screws (6) to between 0.055 and 0.045 m.daN (4.87 and 3.98 lbf.in ) T.
     (g) Make sure that the activation/identification module (5) is attached with the wire lanyard (10) and the screw (9) to the aircraft structure (1).
   (9) Connect the electrical connector (15) to the connector (12).
   (10) Connect the antenna connector (16) to the connector (14).
   (11) Wind the heat protection material (IPC Ref. 25-65-04-68-340) around the antenna connector (16) and attach it with the CORD DIA 1,1 MM (0,043 IN) - FIBERGLASS (DAN107-1).
   (12) Apply Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.
06CMD9) to the fiberglass cords knots.
   (13) If you removed the backup antenna (4), install it.

B. Installation of the ELT 110MX

   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the ARM/OFF/ON switch (9) is set to the OFF position.
   (4) Carefully hold the ELT (2) in position on the support (1).
   (5) Install the bolts (4), the washers (3). (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802)
   (6) Torque the bolts (4) to between 0.45 and 0.35 m.daN (39.82 and 30.97 lbf.in ) T.
   (7) Connect the electrical connector (5) to the connector (8).
   (8) Connect the antenna connector (6) to the connector (7).
   (9) Set the ARM/OFF/ON switch (9) to the ARM position.

B. Installation of ELT 110MX

   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (a) Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove unwanted material (14) from:
  • The electrical connector (8), or the progamming-dongle (19) (if installed).
  • The RCP connector (12).
     (b) Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and clean:
  • The electrical connector (8), or the programming-dongle (19) (if installed).
  • The RCP connector (12).
     (c) Make sure that they are dry before you continue.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the ON/OFF/ARM switch (10) is set to the OFF position.
   (4) Install the ELT (5):
     (a) Push the strap (3) through the buckle (2).
     (b) Pull the strap (3) tight and fasten the burr-strip.
   (5) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (6) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (7) Connect the electrical connector (8), or the programming-dongle (19) (if installed) to the RCP connector (12).
   (8) Connect the antenna connector (9) to the ANT connection (11).
   (9) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) (14) to the connection between the electrical connector (8), or the programming-dongle (19) (if installed), and the RCP connector (12).
   (10) Wrap the heat protection material around the external antenna connector (9) and attach it with CORD DIA 1,1 MM (0,043 IN) - FIBERGLASS (DAN107-1).
   (11) Apply Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) to the fiber-glass cord knots.
