CAUTION:
AT OR BEFORE THE END OF THE APPLICABLE TIME LIMIT (3 OR 10 DAYS), IT IS NECESSARY TO DO THE FULL INSTALLATION:
A. Aircraft Antenna Sealant-Exemption - REMOVE THE ANTENNA
- CLEAN THE FUSELAGE AND ANTENNA SURFACES AND REMOVE ALL SIGNS OF HUMIDITY
- INSTALL THE ANTENNA WITH FULL INSTALLATION OF THE SEALANT.
The table that follows gives the time limits for sealant installation for each radio-navigation, surveillance and communication antenna.
These limits are adapted to:
- Antenna installation configuration
- Antenna location
- Antenna sensitivity to water infiltration
- Sealant availability.
- Sealant between the antenna and the fuselage (interposition sealant)
- Plus sealing bead around the antenna
- Plus sealant on the heads of the screws
- Plus O-ring at the antenna connector level.
- Authorization to fly up to 10 days without sealing bead around the antenna if the interposition sealant was applied and the O-ring installed.
- Authorization to fly up to 10 days without sealant on the heads of the screws.
- Authorization to fly up to 3 days without sealant (interposition sealant plus sealing bead plus sealant on the head screws) if the O-ring is installed.
B. Cleaning Preparation for Installation
(2) Clean the work area:
(b) Make sure that the work area is dry before you continue.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that there is no paint, corrosion or sealants in the screw holes for the antenna (2).
