A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) If you replace an escape-slide after an operational test or an accidental deployment:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU TURN THE RELEASE LEVER BACK TO THE DISARMED POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT, THE ESCAPE-SLIDE RELEASE SYSTEM STAYS ON. IF YOU THEN CONNECT AN INFLATION RESERVOIR TO THE SYSTEM, THE INFLATION RESERVOIR WILL IMMEDIATELY OPERATE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Make sure that the release mechanism at the related emergency exit door is disarmed.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at the related emergency exit door.
   (3) Open the emergency exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-002).
   (4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the related emergency exit door to tell persons not to close the door.
Subtask 25-62-48-010-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Do the special precautions on the door damper and the emergency operation cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
   (2) Install the 98D52207551000 PIN-SAFETY - SLIDE RELEASE LEVER (13) in the related rigging hole of the lever (14).
   (3) Do the special precautions before you work on the escape slide system(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (4) Remove the door frame linings from the emergency exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-010).
   (5) Install the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (38) in the related rigging hole of the lever assembly (40).
   (6) Install the 98D52207553000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (45) in the related rigging hole of the release lever (46).
   (7) Remove the insulation blankets in the related work area (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
Subtask 25-62-48-010-050-CT ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Do the special precautions on the door damper and the emergency operation cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
   (2) Install the 98D52207551000 PIN-SAFETY - SLIDE RELEASE LEVER (27) in the related rigging hole of the lever (28).
   (3) Do the special precautions before you work on the escape slide system(s) (Ref. AMM D/O 25-62-00-48).
   (4) Remove the door frame linings that follow:

   (5) Install the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (55) in the related rigging hole of the lever assembly (54).
   (6) Install the 98D52207553000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (44) in the related rigging hole of the release lever (43).
   (7) Remove the insulation blankets from the work area (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-62-48-020-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Emergency Escape-Slide Release-Mechanism Assembly
   (1) Remove the release-mechanism control-cable assembly (9) (refer to as the control cable):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (13).
     (b) Remove the pin (11), the washers (12) and (10), and disengage the eye-end of the control cable (9) from the override clutch (14).
     (c) Remove and discard the cotter pin (53).
     (d) Remove the pin (51), the washers (52) and (56), and disengage the other eye-end of the control cable (9) from the lever assembly (54).
     (e) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locknuts (1) and (2).
     (f) Loosen the locknuts (1) and (2).
     (g) Remove the nuts (59), the screws (61), the washers (60) and the clamps (62) from the door-frame structure.
NOTE: Do not remove the clamps (62) from the control cable (9).
     (h) Disengage the control cable (9) from the brackets (3) and remove it.

   (2) Remove the release-mechanism rod-assembly (46) (refer to as the rod assembly):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (42).
     (b) Remove the pin (40) and the washer (41), and disengage the rod assembly (46) from the release lever (43).
     (c) Remove and discard the cotter pin (50).
     (d) Remove the pin (48) and the washer (49), disengage the rod assembly (46) from the lever assembly (54) and remove it.

   (3) Remove the override clutch:
     (a) Remove the SAFETY PIN - SLIDE RELEASE LEVER (27) from the related rigging hole of the lever (28).
     (b) Remove the dome nut (30) and the washer (29).
     (c) Remove the lever (28) and the sleeve (26) from the shaft (16).
     (d) Remove the screws (22) and (25), and the washers (21) and (24).
     (e) Remove the stop-screw (23) and the bearing-assembly (18).
     (f) Remove the spring element (17) from the bearing-assembly (18).
     (g) Hold the spacers (7) and the sleeve (8).
     (h) Carefully pull the shaft (16) through the door-frame structure out of the bearing-assembly (6) until you can remove the spacers (7) and the sleeve (8).
     (i) Hold the override clutch (14).
     (j) Carefully continue to pull the shaft (16) through the door-frame structure until you can easily remove the override clutch (14).
     (k) Fully remove the shaft (16) through the door-frame structure.
   (4) Remove the screws (4), the washers (5) and the bearing assembly (6).
Subtask 25-62-48-020-050-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Emergency-Escape-Slide Release-Mechanism Assembly
   (1) Remove the release-mechanism control-cable assembly (19) (referred to as the control cable):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (26).
     (b) Remove the pin (21) and the washers (2), (18) and (27) and disengage the eye-end of the control cable (19) from the override clutch (25).
     (c) Remove and discard the cotter pin (33).
     (d) Remove the pin (39) and the washers (34) and (35) and disengage the other eye-end of the control cable (19) from the lever assembly (40).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (e) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locknuts (51).
     (f) Loosen the locknuts (51).
     (g) Remove the nuts (50), the screws (48), the washers (47) and the clamps (49) from the door-frame structure. Do not remove the clamps (49) from the control cable (19).
     (h) Disengage the control cable (19) from the brackets (1) and remove it.
   (2) Remove the release-mechanism rod assembly (30) (referred to as the rod assembly):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (43).
     (b) Remove the pin (28) and the washer (44) and disengage the rod assembly (30) from the release lever (46).
     (c) Remove and discard the cotter pin (42).
     (d) Remove the pin (32) and the washer (41), disengage the rod assembly (30) from the lever assembly (40) and remove it.
   (3) Remove the override clutch:
     (a) Remove the 98D52207551000 PIN-SAFETY - SLIDE RELEASE LEVER (13) from the related rigging hole of the lever (14).
     (b) Remove the castellated nut (16), the washer (15), the lever (14) and the sleeve (12) from the shaft (7).
     (c) Remove the screw (17), the washer (24) and the bracket (23).
     (d) Remove the screw (11), the washer (10), the stop-screw (22) and the bearing-assembly (9).
     (e) Remove the spring element (8) from the bearing-assembly (9).
     (f) Hold the washer (3) and the sleeve (20).
     (g) Carefully pull the shaft (7) through the door-frame structure out of the bearing-assembly (4) until you can remove the washer (3) and the sleeve (20).
     (h) Hold the override clutch (25).
     (i) Carefully continue to pull the shaft (7) through the door-frame structure until you can easily remove the override clutch (25).
     (j) Fully remove the shaft (7) through the door-frame structure.
   (4) Remove the screws (6), the washers (5) and the bearing-assembly (4).
