TASK 12-31-35-660-001-A
Cold Weather Conditions - Maintenance of the Oxygen System

WARNING: DO NOT FILL OR REPLACE A CREW OXYGEN CYLINDER OR REPLACE A VALVE ASSEMBLY ON THE CREW OXYGEN SYSTEM WHEN YOU FUEL OR DEFUEL THE AIRCRAFT. KEEP ALL HYDROCARBONS (FUELS, LUBRICANTS, ETC.) AWAY FROM ALL SOURCES OF OXYGEN. OXYGEN BECOMES EXPLOSIVE WHEN IT TOUCHES HYDROCARBONS.
WARNING: CLEAN THE TOOLS AND MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE OXYGEN SYSTEM.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
1. Reason for the Job
This procedure gives the cold weather maintenance practices for the oxygen system.

4. Procedure
Subtask 12-31-35-660-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Replacement of Crew Oxygen-Storage Cylinder(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-11-41-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-11-41-400-001).
NOTE: When you replace the crew oxygen-storage cylinder(s), you must obey the crew-oxygen-storage cylinder removal/installation procedures.
   (1) If you replace the oxygen storage cylinder(s) of the crew oxygen system when the ambient temperature is -15 deg.C (5.00 deg.F) or less :
  • Make sure that the temperature in the oxygen cylinder compartment is more than -15 deg.C (5.00 deg.F). If this temperature is -15 deg.C (5.00 deg.F) or less, the Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) used to do the leak test will freeze.
NOTE: We recommend to replace the crew oxygen-storage cylinder after a flight but before the compartment temperature is -15 deg.C (5.00 deg.F), or you can do this task while you pre-condition the aircraft on the ground (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
Subtask 12-31-35-660-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Replacement of Crew Oxygen-Storage Cylinder(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-11-41-000-802) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-11-41-400-802).
NOTE: When you replace the crew oxygen-storage cylinder(s), you must obey the crew-oxygen-storage cylinder removal/installation procedures.

Subtask 12-31-35-660-051-A
B. Replenishment of Crew Oxygen-Storage Cylinder(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-35-600-001).
NOTE: When you fill the crew oxygen-storage cylinder(s), you must obey the oxygen-cylinder replenishment procedure.
NOTE: The maximum charging pressure of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder changes with the ambient temperature
   (1) Make sure that the pressure at which you pressurize the crew oxygen-storage cylinder is not more than the maximum charging pressure.
   (2) We recommend to fill the crew oxygen-storage cylinder before the temperature in the oxygen cylinder compartment is -15 deg.C (5.00 deg.F) but only after:
  • The aircraft network is de-energized.
  • The aircraft and equipment are grounded.
