4. Procedure
Subtask 12-21-12-160-075-A
A. Dry Cleaning of the Cargo-Compartment Floor Areas
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A METAL SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE UNWANTED MATERIAL. A METAL SCRAPER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT.
   (1) Remove loose materials with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or a BRUSH - NON METALLIC and a VACUUM CLEANER.
   (2) Clean the area with Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT PUT WATER DIRECTLY ON THE BALL MATS AND THE FLOOR PANEL AREAS THAT HAVE POWER DRIVE UNITS. WATER ON THESE AREAS CAN CAUSE CORROSION AND ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS IN THE CLS.
   (3) Additional Special Cleaning after Seafood/Wet Cargo Shipment:
NOTE: This procedure is only applicable if leakage from a shipping container has been reported.
     (a) Make a cleaning solution:
  • Mix 5.0 g (0.18 oz) of Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) with each 1 l (0.26 USgal) of water.
     (b) Clean the area with the cleaning solution and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Dry the area with a HOT AIR BLOWER OPERATING 40 DEG C(104 F).
NOTE: When you use compressed air to dry the roller tracks, the nozzle pressure must not be more than 30 psi (2.07 bar).
   (4) If necessary, clean the bilge area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-615-003).
Subtask 12-21-12-160-086-A
B. Wet Cleaning of the Cargo-Compartment Floor Areas
   (2) If the Power Drive Units (PDUs) are installed:
     (a) Remove the PDUs (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-26-000-001).
     (b) Put CAP - PROTECTION on the disconnected electrical connectors.
     (c) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on all the bonding points of the PDU mounting holes.
     (d) Do a check of the Cargo Loading System (CLS) drain filters and clean them as necessary.
   (3) Put a CONTAINER 100 L(25 USGAL) below the applicable drain mast or drain valve below the fuselage, as necessary.
NOTE: We recommend that one person stays below the fuselage during this procedure. This person makes sure that the container is in the correct position below the drain mast or drain valve through which the water drains.
   (4) Clean the cargo compartment(s) as follows. Start at the aft end of each cargo compartment (on the ground the aircraft is usually at an angle of 1 degree nose down).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE WATER TEMPERATURE IS NOT HIGHER THAN 60 DEG.C (140.00 DEG.F). IF IT IS HIGHER, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS.
     (a) Flush the area you will clean with 60.0 deg.C (140.0 deg.F) HOT CLEAN WATER or a solution of 0.5 % Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) and clean water. The maximum flow rate must not be more than 5 l (1.32 USgal) per minute.
     (b) Use a brush to push the water along the floor panels to the roller track outer-flanges.
     (c) Make sure that water flows freely through the applicable drain mast or drain valve.
   (5) Replace the filters of the drain system (Ref. AMM TASK 25-53-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-53-00-400-001), as necessary.
   (6) Dry the cargo-compartment floor and the CLS (if installed) with a HOT AIR BLOWER OPERATING 40 DEG C(104 F).
NOTE: When you use compressed air to dry the roller tracks, the nozzle pressure must not be more than 30 psi (2.07 bar).
   (7) If removed, install the PDUs as follows:
     (a) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the electrical connectors.
     (b) Remove the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from all bonding points of the PDU mounting holes.
     (c) Install the PDUs (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-26-400-001).
Subtask 12-21-12-916-050-A
C. Temporary Protection System (TPS)
   (1) Apply the TPS layer again, as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001). Use Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) .
5. Close-up
