3. Job Set-up
Subtask 79-36-00-941-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 79-36-00-220-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Proactive Detailed Inspection of the ODMS Sensor for Debris
   (1) Make sure that the oil chips ECAM alert is not reached. If oil chips ECAM alert is reached, apply (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-805).
   (2) Make sure that the ODMS chips COUNT has not been reset. If the ODMS chips COUNT has been reset, apply (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-805).
   (3) Do an inspection of the ODMS Sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-36-00-220-801).
     (a) If there is no oil-chip ECAM alert:
1_ Do not apply the figure (Flow Chart Decision vs Magnetic Particle) of the task (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-805).
     (b) If there is an oil-chip ECAM alert:
       1 Fully apply the task (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-805), included the figure (Flow Chart Decision vs Magnetic Particle).
   (4) Do a check of the A, B and C sumps, and the accessory gearbox and transfer gearbox sumps scavenge screen plugs (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-806).
     (a) If there is no oil-chip ECAM alert:
1_ Do not apply the figure (Flow Chart Decision vs Magnetic Particle) of the task (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-805).
     (b) If there is an oil-chip ECAM alert:
       1 Fully apply (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-805), included the figure (Flow Chart Decision vs Magnetic Particle).
   (5) Send the particles to a laboratory for material identification.
   (6) Provide as soon as possible all the visual inspection result to CFM support for preliminary recommendations:
  • Visual aspect (shape, color, plated or not, laminated...)
  • Nature (magnetic or non-magnetic)
  • Size, quantity
  • Oil sump source (pictures of scavenge plugs with particles).
NOTE: In case of CFM urgent CNR release, provide the visual inspection result to CFM no later than 72 hours after CFM recommendation issuance.
   (7) Provide as soon as possible the laboratory material identification result to CFM support for recommendation.
NOTE: In case of CFM urgent CNR release, provide the visual inspection result to CFM no later than 72 hours after CFM recommendation issuance.
   (8) Engine can continue in service if the chip count alert is not reached and until the CFM recommendation, according to the ODMS proactive inspection laboratory analysis result.
   (9) If the chip count alert is reached before you receive the ODMS proactive inspection laboratory analysis results, apply the (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-805).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
