3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-37-53-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of the maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
   (2) Do the deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).
WARNING: MAKE THE THRUST REVERSER UNSERVICEABLE (INSTALL AND SAFETY THE ICU LOCKOUT PIN) BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL AND SAFETY THE ICU LOCKOUT PIN, YOU CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER AND INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
   (3) Deactivate the electrical Tertiary Lock System (TLS) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-00-040-803).
   (4) Unlock the right and left upper actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-41-040-802).
   (5) Manually deploy the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
   (6) Put an INSPECTION CREEPER in position under the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-37-53-210-050-A
A. Detailed Inspection of Electrical Tertiary Lock Roller
   (1) Examine the roller (1) for:
  • Wear: If visual indications of wear are detected, minimum roller diameter must exceed 0.720 in. (18.29 mm) in the worn area
  • Cracks: Not serviceable
  • Nicks, dents and scratches: Not serviceable
  • Corrosion: Not serviceable.
NOTE: During this inspection, you can turn the roller to help see all the surfaces.
   (2) In case wear limits are exceeded or any of not serviceable damage listed above was found, replace the electrical tertiary lock roller (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-53-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-53-400-801).
5. Close-up
Subtask 78-37-53-410-053-A
A. Close Access
   (1) If removed, install the access panel for the TLS fitting roller (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-53-400-801).
   (2) Remove the INSPECTION CREEPER.
   (3) Manually stow the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-410-801).
   (4) Lock the right and left upper actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-41-440-802).
   (5) Activate the electrical tertiary lock system (TLS) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-00-440-803).
   (6) Do the reactivation of the Thrust Reverser after nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-807).
   (7) Close the fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803).
   (8) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (9) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
