C. Deactivation of the Thrust:
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012)Subtask 78-32-80-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Test the release load setting of the latch
(1) The correct latch release loads are between 157 lbf (69.84 daN) and 167 lbf (74.29 daN). Calculate the torque values necessary to release the latch with the torque wrench and IAE1N20023 ADAPTER-TORQUE TOOL, from the latch release loads, with the following formula:
83.21 x 0.8888889 = 73.964445 which can be read as 74 lbf.in (0.84 m.daN).
88.51 x 0.8888889 = 78.675556 which can be read as 79 lbf.in (0.89 m.daN).
Thus, when you use a 12 in. (304,8 mm) torque wrench, the torque value indication on the torque wrench when the latch releases must be between to between 79 and 74 lbf.in (0.89 and 0.84 m.daN )
.
(3) Close and latch the thrust reverser pressure relief door.
(4) Install the IAE1N20023 ADAPTER-TORQUE TOOL, on the torque wrench.
(5) Put the IAE1N20023 ADAPTER-TORQUE TOOL, in to the slot of the latch bolt. The torque adapter must rest evenly on the latch bolt
(6) Apply a force to the torque wrench until the latch releases. Make sure that you apply the force at 90 degrees to the torque wrench handle (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-012)
(7) Check that the torque value indication on the torque wrench is in the range of the torque values calculated in step (1) when the latch releases. If the latch does not release or releases at a value that is not in the range of necessary torque values, replace the defective pressure relief door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-80-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-80-400-010).
5. Close-up(1) The correct latch release loads are between 157 lbf (69.84 daN) and 167 lbf (74.29 daN). Calculate the torque values necessary to release the latch with the torque wrench and IAE1N20023 ADAPTER-TORQUE TOOL, from the latch release loads, with the following formula:
(L)
0.53P -------
L + 1.5
where: P = latch release load
L = torque wrench length
Example:
Latch release load = 157 to 167 lbf
Torque wrench length = 12 in.
(12)
0.53 x 157 -------
12+1.5
(12)
0.53 x 167 -------
12+1.5
83.21 x 0.8888889 = 73.964445 which can be read as 74 lbf.in (0.84 m.daN).
88.51 x 0.8888889 = 78.675556 which can be read as 79 lbf.in (0.89 m.daN).
Thus, when you use a 12 in. (304,8 mm) torque wrench, the torque value indication on the torque wrench when the latch releases must be between to between 79 and 74 lbf.in (0.89 and 0.84 m.daN )
. NOTE: This example is for a 12 in. (304.8 mm) long torque wrench. Use the formula shown above to calculate the range of torque values necessary to release the latch when you use a torque wrench that is other than 12 in. (304.8 mm) long.
(2) Make sure that the latch and the contact surfaces are clean.
