A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

   (1) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-66-960-050-A
A. Replacement of the Thrust-Reverser Precooler Scoop
CAUTION: DURING EACH OPERATION, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ADJACENT STRUCTURES.
   (1) Removal of the equipped precooler scoop (6):
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this task. One person must be on the forward side of the front frame to remove the fasteners and the second person must be under the thrust reverser to keep the equipped precooler scoop (6) in position on the thrust reverser.
     (a) Remove and discard the collars (4) and the washers (3).
     (b) Remove and discard the hi-lite pins (1) and (2).
     (c) Remove and discard the blind bolts (5).
NOTE: Use a tool with (or without) a drive washer for the removal of the blind bolts (5).
     (d) Remove and discard the equipped precooler scoop (6).
     (e) Remove the SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) from the equipped precooler scoop (6).
     (f) Clean the work area with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) .
     (g) Dry the work area with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) before the GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) becomes gas.
   (2) Preparation of the new AIPC 78-30-25-11-200 EQUIPPED PRECOOLER SCOOP (6):
WARNING: WHEN YOU DRILL, MACHINE, BLEND, GRIND OR SAND PARTS, USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, GLOVES, DUST MASK AND GOGGLES. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREATHE THE DUST OR LET IT TOUCH YOUR SKIN. DUST AND PARTICLES ARE DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH.
     (a) Use a template or a locally manufactured tool to mark and record the position of the holes for the hi-lite pins (1) and (2) and blind bolts (5) on the new equipped precooler scoop (6).
     (b) Drill the holes for the hi-lite pins (1) and (2) and blind bolts (5) on the new equipped precooler scoop (6).
     (c) Clean the work area with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.
CPNCL02069) made moist with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) .
     (d) Dry the work area with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) before the GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) becomes gas.
   (3) Installation of the new equipped precooler scoop (6):
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this task. One person must be on the forward side of the front frame to remove the fasteners and the second person must be under the thrust reverser to keep the equipped precooler scoop (6) in position on the thrust reverser.
NOTE: All the fasteners must be installed with SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) .
     (a) Apply a thin layer of SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) on the contact surfaces of the new equipped precooler scoop (6).
     (b) Put the new equipped precooler scoop (6) in position.
     (c) Install the three new AIPC 78-30-25-11-230 HI-LITE PINS (1) and one new AIPC 78-30-25-11-240 HI-LITE PIN (2).
     (d) Install the 20 new
AIPC 78-30-25-11-250 BLIND BOLTS (5).
     (e) Install the four new
AIPC 78-30-25-11-220 WASHERS (3) and the four new AIPC 78-30-25-11-210 COLLARS (4).
NOTE: The washers (3) must be installed on the collar side.
       1 If the collar (Part number: KFN579-3K) is used, then TORQUE the collar (4)
to between 3.64 and 3.16 m.N (32.21 and 27.96 lbf.in )
T.
     (f) Apply a bead of SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.
CPNCL01420) all around the new equipped precooler scoop (6) and fill the gap.
NOTE: Let the SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
