A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Manually deploy the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-51-210-062-A
A. General Visual Inspection (GVI) of Beams Track Liners and Transcowl Sliders
NOTE: This procedure is given for the left thrust reverser. It is also applicable to the right thrust reverser.
NOTE: You can use a MIRROR - INSPECTION and a LIGHT SOURCE - HIGHPOWER.
   (1) Make sure that the area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection satisfactorily at the specified inspection standards.
   (2) Do the visual inspection of the translating cowl upper primary slider (1) and upper beam primary track liner (2).
     (a) Make sure that there are no signs of damage (unusual wear).
       1 If you find damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
   (3) Do the visual inspection of the translating cowl upper secondary slider (3) and upper structure secondary track liner (4).
     (a) Visual inspection of the upper structure secondary track liner (4) on the translating cowl upper secondary slider (3):
       1 The Teflon upper structure secondary track liner (4) must be in its position attached to the translating cowl upper secondary slider (3).
       2 Make sure that the upper structure secondary liner (4) is not missing or disconnected from translating cowl upper secondary slider (3).
       3 If you find damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
     (b) Visual inspection of the upper beam secondary track (9):
       1 Make sure that there are no signs of damage (unusual wear).
         a If you find damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
   (4) Do the visual inspection of the translating cowl lower primary slider (5) and lower beam primary track liner (6).
     (a) Make sure that there are no signs of damage (unusual wear).
       1 If you find damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
   (5) Do the visual inspection of the translating cowl lower secondary slider (7) and lower beam secondary track liner (8).
     (a) Make sure that there are no signs of damage (unusual wear).
       1 If you find damage, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Manually stow the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-410-801).

B. Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-807).
