Subtask 78-32-49-941-062-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-49-960-052-A
A. Replacement of the PTFE Strip on the Aft Core Cowl of the Thrust Reverser (T/R) Right-Hand (RH) Side
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ADJACENT STRUCTURES WHEN YOU DO THESE OPERATIONS.
   (1) Install a temporary COVER - PROTECTION around the work area.
   (2) Removal of the PTFE strip (1):
     (a) Mark and record the position of the PTFE strip (1) on the aft core cowl (2).
     (b) Remove the PTFE strip (1) from the ACC (2).
     (c) Clean the work area with a textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with diestone DLS (Material No.CPNCL02589) .
     (d) Dry the work area with a textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) before the solvent becomes gas.
   (3) Installation of the PTFE strip (1):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE NEW PTFE STRIP IS SUPPLIED IN A CLOSED BLACK PACKAGE. IF NOT, THE SURFACE MATERIAL ON THE PTFE STRIP CAN BE DAMAGED AND THE PTFE STRIP WILL NOT CORRECTLY BOND TO THE FORWARD FRAME.
     (a) Apply silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) on the aft core cowl (2).
     (b) Apply a thin layer of silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) on the contact surface of the new AIPC 78-30-25-12-050 PTFE STRIP (1).
NOTE: The PTFE strip (1) where the silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) must be applied is protected by a sheet of "paper". Remove the sheet of "paper" before you apply the silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) .
     (c) Put the PTFE strip (1) in position:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU PUT THE PTFE STRIP IN POSITION BEHIND THE AFT CORE COWL EDGES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE PTFE STRIP WILL QUICKLY DISBOND.
       1 Put the new PTFE strip (1) in position.
     (d) Clean the unwanted silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) with a textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
     (e) Let the silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) cure.
NOTE: Apply pressure on the PTFE strip (1) in its position during the whole curing time of the adhesive with standard tightening strip and tightening clamp.
     (f) Apply a bead of silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) around the new PTFE strip (1), if necessary.
     (g) Clean the unwanted silicon adhesive sealant (Material No.CPNCL00963) with a textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with diestone DLS (Material No.CPNCL02589) .
     (h) Dry the work area with a textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) before the solvent becomes gas.
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the right thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
