A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Manually deploy the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

Subtask 78-32-00-220-058-A
A. Special Detailed Inspection (Endoscope) of Thrust Reverser, Forward Frame to Beam Junctions
NOTE: This procedure is given for the left thrust reverser. It is also applicable to the right thrust reverser.
NOTE: You can use a MIRROR - INSPECTION and LIGHT SOURCE - HIGHPOWER.
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection satisfactorily as per the specified inspection standards.
   (2) Do the special detail inspection of the forward frame to upper beam junction:
     (a) Do the inspection of the fasteners (3) on the rear part of the forward frame (1):
       1 Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion.
       2 If you find corrosion, contact Safran Nacelles.
     (b) Do the inspection of the fasteners (5) that you can see in the internal cavity of the forward frame (1):
       1 Put the BORESCOPE SET into the borescope access hole (6).
       2 Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion.
       3 If you find corrosion, contact Safran Nacelles.
   (3) Do the special detailed inspection of the forward frame to lower beam junction:
     (a) Do the inspection of the fasteners (7) on the rear part of the forward frame (1):
       1 Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion.
       2 If you find corrosion, contact Safran Nacelles.
     (b) Do the inspection of the fasteners (9) and (10) that you can see in the internal cavity of the forward frame (1):
       1 Put the BORESCOPE SET into the borescope access hole (11).
       2 Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion.
       3 If you find corrosion, contact Safran Nacelles.
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Manually stow the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-410-801).
