C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-00-220-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) of the Thrust Reverser Hinge Fittings and Surrounding Structure (150 mm Around Hinge Fittings)
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
(2) Clean the inspection areas with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl
(3) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl
(4) Do a DVI of the thrust reverser hinges and surrounding structure. Use a LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 05X or a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
(a) Examine the thrust reverser hinges and 5.9 in. (150 mm) of the adjacent structure from the edges of all hinges. Look for corrosion.
1 If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
