C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) If necessary put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

E. Cleaning of V-Blades
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the surfaces of the upper V-blades, the middle V-blades, the lower V-blades and the attachment hardware on the left and right thrust reverser with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
   (2) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Visual Inspection of the V-blades
   (1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
   (2) Use the FLASHLIGHT and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the upper V-blades and the lower V-blades on the left and right thrust reverser.
     (a) Look for dents, wear, corrosion, scratches, cracks, gouges or other damage.
     (b) Make sure that you examine the inner and outer surfaces of the upper and lower V-blades.
     (c) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
   (3) Use the FLASHLIGHT and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the middle V-blades on the left and right thrust reverser.
     (a) Look for dents, wear, corrosion, scratches, cracks, gouges, or other damage.
     (b) Make sure you examine the inner and outer surfaces of the middle V-blades.
     (c) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
   (4) Examine the pins, bolts, collars and nuts as follows:
     (a) Use the FLASHLIGHT and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the the pins, bolts, collars and nuts.
       1 Look for cracks, gouges, wear, corrosion, missing parts, or other damage.
       2 If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
     (b) Make sure that the pins, collars and nuts are correctly attached.
       1 If one is not correctly attached, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) If necessary remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE.
   (3) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
