Removal of the VSV Actuating Levers
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
1. Reason for the JobThis task is for A5 basic (non SelectOne) engines and A5 SelectOne retrofit engines, which have not SBE 72-0564 incorporated.
The removal procedure given here is for the removal of one or some of the VSV actuating levers.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 75-32-42-010-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 75-32-42-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

A. Removal of the Variable Stator Vane(VSV) Actuating Levers
(1) For the Variable Inlet Guide Vane (VIGV):
(a) For Pre SB 72-0486, refer to Step B.
(b) For Post SB 72-0486, refer to Step C.
(2) For stages 3, 4 and 5, refer to Step B.
Subtask 75-32-42-010-115-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) For the Variable Inlet Guide Vane (VIGV):
(a) For Pre SB 72-0486, refer to Step B.
(b) For Post SB 72-0486, refer to Step C.
(2) For stages 3, 4 and 5, refer to Step B.
B. Removal of the Stage 3, 4 and 5 VSV actuating lever(s) including PRE SB 72-0486 VIGV actuating Lever(s)
(1) Find the actuating lever(s) that is (are) to be removed.
(2) If the actuating lever is one you can get access to:
(a) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(b) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(c) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(3) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a unison ring connector:
(a) Remove the unison ring connector:
1 Remove the four bolts (6).
2 Remove the four dowels (5).
3 Remove the connector (4).
(b) Remove the nut (7).
(c) Remove the lever (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (9).
(4) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV actuator:
(a) Remove the VSV actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-41-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(5) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV crankshaft assembly:
(a) Remove the VSV crankshaft assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-42-000-012).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(6) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of an ignition exciter:
(a) Remove the ignition exciter (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-38-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(7) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the Active Clearance Control (ACC) actuator:
(a) Remove the ACC actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-24-52-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(8) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) bleed master actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed master actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-42-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(9) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the LPC bleed slave actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed slave actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-43-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
Subtask 75-32-42-010-116-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Find the actuating lever(s) that is (are) to be removed.
(2) If the actuating lever is one you can get access to:
(a) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(b) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(c) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(3) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a unison ring connector:
(a) Remove the unison ring connector:
1 Remove the four bolts (6).
2 Remove the four dowels (5).
3 Remove the connector (4).
(b) Remove the nut (7).
(c) Remove the lever (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (9).
(4) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV actuator:
(a) Remove the VSV actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-41-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(5) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV crankshaft assembly:
(a) Remove the VSV crankshaft assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-42-000-012).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(6) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of an ignition exciter:
(a) Remove the ignition exciter (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-38-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(7) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the Active Clearance Control (ACC) actuator:
(a) Remove the ACC actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-24-52-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(8) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) bleed master actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed master actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-42-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
(9) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the LPC bleed slave actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed slave actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-43-000-010).
(b) Remove the nut (1) or (7).
(c) Remove the lever (2) or (8).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3) or (9).
C. Removal of the VIGV actuating lever(s) POST SB 72-0486
(1) Find the actuating lever that is to be removed.
(2) If the actuating lever is one you can get access to:
(a) Remove the bolt (1).
(b) Remove the lever (2).
(c) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(3) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a unison ring connector:
(a) Remove the unison ring connector:
1 Remove the four bolts (6).
2 Remove the four dowels (5).
3 Remove the connector (4).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(4) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV actuator:
(a) Remove the VSV actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-41-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(5) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV crankshaft assembly:
(a) Remove the VSV crankshaft assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-42-000-012).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(6) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of an ignition exciter:
(a) Remove the ignition exciter (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-38-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(7) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the ACC actuator:
(a) Remove the ACC actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-24-52-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(8) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the LPC bleed master actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed master actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-42-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(9) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the LPC bleed slave actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed slave actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-43-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(1) Find the actuating lever that is to be removed.
(2) If the actuating lever is one you can get access to:
(a) Remove the bolt (1).
(b) Remove the lever (2).
(c) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(3) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a unison ring connector:
(a) Remove the unison ring connector:
1 Remove the four bolts (6).
2 Remove the four dowels (5).
3 Remove the connector (4).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(4) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV actuator:
(a) Remove the VSV actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-41-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(5) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of a VSV crankshaft assembly:
(a) Remove the VSV crankshaft assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-42-000-012).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(6) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of an ignition exciter:
(a) Remove the ignition exciter (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-38-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(7) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the ACC actuator:
(a) Remove the ACC actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-24-52-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(8) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the LPC bleed master actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed master actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-42-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
(9) If you cannot get access to the actuating lever because of the LPC bleed slave actuator:
(a) Remove the LPC bleed slave actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-43-000-010).
(b) Remove the bolt (1).
(c) Remove the lever (2).
(d) Do not remove the adjusting spacers (3).
