Removal of the VSV System Crankshaft Assembly

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 75-32-42-010-105-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the Thrust Reverser Halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 75-32-42-820-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the Rig Pins
(1) Use an applicable wrench, on the wrench flats of the crankshaft, to turn the VSV system linkage to the high speed position.
(2) Install the IAE1R18891 PIN, RIGGING, into the actuator ram.
(3) Install the IAE1R18254 PIN RIGGING, through the rig pin hole in the front bearing housing and the crankshaft.
(4) Install a IAE1R18892 PIN, RIGGING or IAE1R18893 PIN, RIGGING or IAE1R18893 PIN, RIGGING or IAE1R18895 PIN, RIGGING, into each of the four unison rings.
(5) Make sure that each rig pin engages with the applicable hole in the compressor case.
Subtask 75-32-42-020-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use an applicable wrench, on the wrench flats of the crankshaft, to turn the VSV system linkage to the high speed position.
(2) Install the IAE1R18891 PIN, RIGGING, into the actuator ram.
(3) Install the IAE1R18254 PIN RIGGING, through the rig pin hole in the front bearing housing and the crankshaft.
(4) Install a IAE1R18892 PIN, RIGGING or IAE1R18893 PIN, RIGGING or IAE1R18893 PIN, RIGGING or IAE1R18895 PIN, RIGGING, into each of the four unison rings.
(5) Make sure that each rig pin engages with the applicable hole in the compressor case.
B. Disconnect All the Control Rods from the Crankshaft (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-42-000-011)
(1) Remove the crankshaft assembly
(a) Remove the four bolts (1) that attach the crankshaft assembly (3) to the compressor case.
(b) Move the bracket (2) clear of the crankshaft assembly (3).
(c) Remove the crankshaft assembly (3).
Subtask 75-32-42-820-069-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the crankshaft assembly
(a) Remove the four bolts (1) that attach the crankshaft assembly (3) to the compressor case.
(b) Move the bracket (2) clear of the crankshaft assembly (3).
(c) Remove the crankshaft assembly (3).
C. Remove the IAE1R18254 PIN RIGGING, from the Crankshaft Assembly
(2) Cleaning the surface
(a) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moistened with theV01-076 Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade or V01-124 Isopropyl Alcohol, Technical grade
(3) Allow sufficient time for the solvent to evaporate and the component to dry before assembly.
NOTE: The following procedure should only be adopted when evidence of a black sticky substance on the VSV crankshaft bearing exists.
(1) Remove the bearings from the crankshaft. (2) Cleaning the surface
(a) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moistened with the
