4. Procedure
Subtask 75-21-10-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the HPT Active Clearance Control Valve:
   (1) Drain the engine fuel circuit (Ref. AMM TASK 73-00-00-680-002).
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connectors, Channel A (140) and Channel B (130), from the HPTACC valve as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the Channel A (260) and the Channel B (250) electrical connectors from the HPTACC valve (10). Use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT if necessary.
     (b) Install CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors of the leads for Channel A (260) and Channel B (250).
     (c) Install CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors on the HPTACC valve for Channel A (140) and Channel B (130).
   (3) Put a CONTAINER 20 L - SHALLOW under the area of the TCC fuel manifold (200) and the drain line (230).
   (4) Remove the cap assembly (225) of the drain tube (230). Fuel will drain into the container.
   (5) Remove the TCC fuel manifold (200) from the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolts (210) from the TCC fuel manifold (200).
     (b) Remove the gasket (220) from between the TCC fuel manifold (200) and the fuel supply flange of the HPTACC valve (260).
   (6) Disconnect
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
     (a) Disconnect the TCC drain tube (230) from the nipple (240) of the drain port.
NOTE: If the new HPTACC valve (260) has a nipple installed in the drain port, do not do the steps (7) and (8).
   (7) Remove the nipple (240) from the drain port.
   (8) Remove and discard the O-ring (250).
   (9) Remove the drain tube (230).
   (10) Install PLUG - BLANKING on the drain port, on the drain cap fitting and on both ends of fuel drain tube (230) and on the coupling of the drain line where the tube (230) was removed.
   (11) Remove the air start tube (90) from the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:

PRE SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (a) Remove the bolts (70) and the nuts (75) from the start air tube (90).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (b) Remove the bolts (70) from the start air tube (90).
     (c) Remove the gasket (80) from between the air start tube (90) and the start bleed port of the HPTACC valve (260).
   (12) Remove the TCC air manifold (10) from the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:
