Conduct a Ground Run (Menu Mode) [CFML]
TASK 73-29-00-710-805-A
Conduct a Ground Run (Menu Mode)
The ground run (Menu Mode) feature allows the operator to run the engine through various engine speed settings to capture engine vibration data.
The vibration data collected via the ground run is used to calculate a fan trim balance solution via the one-shot or advance trim balance functions. The fan trim balance solution can be implemented by modifying the fan trim balance weights to reduce engine vibration.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the aircraft with the nose pointing into the wind prior to run the engine at high power.
(3) Make sure that the 98F10103500000 CHOCK-MLG,ENGINE RUN-UP is in position in front of each forward outboard MLG wheel.
(4) Make sure that a total of 6614 lb (3000 kg) (minimum) of fuel are in the inner tanks to make sure that the aircraft is stable during the test.
(6) If the aircraft begins to move while performing an engine run, immediately set all the thrust levers to idle position.
Subtask 73-29-00-861-075-A Subtask 73-29-00-865-088-A (1) Put the aircraft with the nose pointing into the wind prior to run the engine at high power.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS PARKED ON A CLEAN, DRY AND FLAT SURFACE. THERE MUST BE NO OIL, GREASE OR SIMILAR MATERIALS ON THE SURFACE.
THE PAVEMENT MUST NOT BE BROKEN OR LOOSE, AND WE RECOMMEND CONCRETE MATERIAL BECAUSE ASPHALT CAN MELT AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(2) Obey the wind limitations and safety precautions during engine ground operation (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-869-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-869-802).
NOTE: This minimum fuel quantity does not include the fuel consumption of the engines necessary to do the test. This minimum quantity must stay in the inner tank at the end of the test.
(5) There must be two qualified persons in the cockpit when performing an engine run. One must monitor the outside and the aircraft behavior while the other performs the engine test. (6) If the aircraft begins to move while performing an engine run, immediately set all the thrust levers to idle position.
C. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) closed:

DO NOT ENTER A FLIGHT NUMBER IN THE CFDIU. IF YOU DO, THE MENU MODE WILL STOP WHEN YOU START THE OTHER ENGINE.
Subtask 73-29-00-710-079-A A. Do the Ground Run (Menu Mode) Function
(b) Make sure that the PARKING BRAKE control switch is in ON position.
(2) If the N1 target will be more than or equal to 75 percent, do as follows:
(a) Start the no-tested engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-827) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-828).
(b) Accelerate the no-tested engine to N1=50%.
(3) Do the test as follow:
5. Close-upNOTE: The Menu Mode Ground Run function is expected to take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
NOTE: After selecting the MCDU button, it may take approximately ten seconds to transition to the next Menu Mode screen.

- N2 more than ten percent or invalid
- Rotary selector is set on: CRANK or IGN/START or invalid
- Manual Start Button set on: ON or invalid
- Throttle Lever Angle not at idle or invalid
- Flight configuration
- MASTER lever ON or invalid
- BITE command code input label invalid.
NOTE: The EEC will abort a running test or special function when any of the following conditions becomes set:
(1) On the landing gear control and indicating panel 402VU:- Flight configuration
- You enter in the interactive mode of the other channel.
CAUTION:
DO NOT OPEN LGCIU CIRCUIT BREAKERS 1GA, 2GA AND 52GA. IF YOU DO THIS, AIRCRAFT BRAKING THROUGH BRAKE PEDALS DOES NOT OPERATE.

(b) Accelerate the no-tested engine to N1=50%.
(3) Do the test as follow:
| ACTION | RESULT |
|---|---|
| 1.From the Menu Mode main menu, select the key adjacent to SPECIAL FUNCTIONS (2R). | The Special Functions menu is displayed. |
| 2.Select the key adjacent to ENGINE BALANCING (1R). | The Engine Balancing submenu is displayed. |
| 3.Select the key adjacent to CONDUCT GROUND RUN (4R). | The Ground Run submenu is displayed. |

| 5.Select the key adjacent to START GROUND RUN (5R). | The Confirm Ground Run Start screen is displayed. |
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE, MAKE SURE THAT: 6.Start the tested engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-827) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-828) and make sure that the following cockpit controls are set:
- Start switch to IGN/START - Master lever to ON Once the engine is at idle, select the key adjacent to CONFIRM START (5L). | |
| 7.Push and hold the brake pedals at the full limit position. | |
| 8.Accelerate smoothly and continually the tested engine until to the first speed range that you want to capture. Then wait for 10 seconds. | |
| 9.Accelerate again smoothly and continually to the next speed range that you want to capture. Then wait for 10 seconds. | Data must be captured for a minimum of three speed ranges to compute a new balance solution. Data through more speed ranges offer more data to compute a more accurate balance solution. The KEEP GROUND RUN selection is displayed after vibration data has been captured in three speed ranges. |
| 10.Repeat step 9 until to all wanted speed range are captured (minimum of three speed ranges), select the key adjacent to SAVE GROUND RUN (5R) to store vibration data to EEC memory (both channels). | - Make sure that no EEC NVM, electrical power or cross-channel faults are present prior to re-attempting ground run. |
11.Return the engine(s) to idle and operate at idle for a minimum of 5 minutes. Once the engine is at idle:
| |
12.Shut down the engine(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-829) and make sure the following cockpit controls are set:
| |
