1. Reason for the Job
Use this procedure to install the borescope inspection kit or a manual 9/16 inch socket wrench on the main gearbox drive adapter to turn the N2 rotor, High Pressure Compressor (HPC) and High Pressure Turbine (HPT), during the borescope inspections.
For more information about the engine, refer to (72-00-00-00U).

   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-00-00-480-085-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the High (N2) Rotor-Turning Equipment
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Remove the manual crank cover (1) as follows:
F Gearbox Crank Pad Cover ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE N2 CRANK-PAD COVER, PUT A CONTAINER IN POSITION BELOW IT TO COLLECT THE UNWANTED OIL. THE MAIN GEARBOX OIL-LEVEL CAN BE HIGHER THAN THE N2 CRANK-PAD COVER IF THE ENGINE DID NOT OPERATE DURING EIGHT HOURS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, OIL CAN SPILL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE PARTS.
     (a) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the main gearbox, if necessary.
     (b) Remove the two bolts (3) and the two washers (2) from the manual crank cover (1).
     (c) Remove the manual crank cover (1) with the PWA211773 PULLER, SLIDE MAIN.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (4).
   (3) Use the WRENCH - SOCKET on the main gearbox drive adapter to turn the rotors, or do step 4.A.(4) to install the PWA115120 KIT, CONTROL.
   (4) Install the PWA115120 KIT, CONTROL as follows:

F Installation Rotator Adapter ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Attach the PWA111443 ROTATOR ADAPTER - ENGINE ASSY, BORESCOPE to the gearbox crank pad with the two captive bolts.
     (b) Tighten the two captive bolts.
     (c) Attach the detail drive unit cable to the drive motor and the control unit.
     (d) Attach the detail pedal cable to the control unit.
     (e) Attach the detail digital pendant cable to the control unit.
     (f) Connect the AC power cable to the control unit and to the 110VAC receptacle.
     (g) Connect the detail motor unit to the PWA111443 ROTATOR ADAPTER - ENGINE ASSY, BORESCOPE with the two detail bolts and the two washers.
     (h) To operate the control unit for the borescope inspection, refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
   (5) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
   (6) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
