CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLEXIBLE BORESCOPE INTO THE ENGINE. YOU CAN EASILY DO DAMAGE TO THE BORESCOPE EQUIPMENT IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE ENGINE AND OF THE AREAS ADJACENT TO THE BORESCOPE INSPECTION PORTS IS LESS THAN 150 °F (65.6 °C). DO NOT DO A BORESCOPE INSPECTION IF THE ADJACENT AREAS ARE TOO HOT TO TOUCH. DO THE BORESCOPE INSPECTION WHEN THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS LESS THAN 150 F(65.6 C). THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE BORESCOPE EQUIPMENT.
B. Do a 360-degree borescope inspection of the stage 2 HPT NGV as follows: NOTE: A BORESCOPE - FLEXIBLE (5 mm or less) is necessary for this inspection if you use guide tubes. A flexscope with a minimum length of 90 in. (2.29 m) is necessary to do the 360-degree borescope inspection of the stage 2 HPT NGVs.
NOTE: It is optional to use a 6 mm flexscope with a minimum length of 90 in. (2.29 m) without the guide tubes.
(1) If you will use a 956A1603G01 GUIDE TUBES, BORESCOPE, put the guide tube into HPT case port S: (a) Move the end of the guide tube into the hole in the stage 2 HPT nozzle into the flowpath to inspect the nozzle TE.
(2) Put the BORESCOPE - FLEXIBLE into the guide tube and extend it into the stage 2 HPT flowpath. Continue to move the flexscope in the direction set by the stage 2 HPT nozzle vanes.
(3) Move the flexscope across the top of the engine, 360-degrees around the engine until you can see the flexscope.
NOTE: It is very important that you can see the point where the flexscope is between the two vanes of the stage 2 HPT nozzle. This is necessary to be sure you do a full 360-degree inspection.
