Visual Examination of the Engine

1. Reason for the Job
Use this procedure to do a General Visual Inspection (GVI) of the engine with a white light. If you see damage, this procedure will reference you to a more Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) for limits and dispositions.
Do not use this inspection if you think that the engine had a Foreign Object Damage (FOD) event or birdstrike event. Refer to Inspection of the Engine after Birdstrike (Foreign Object Damage) AMM TASK 72-00-00-210-807.

A. Perform the following General Visual Inspections (GVI):

NOTE: Use a LIGHT SOURCE - WHITE to do these inspections.

(1) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the engine inlet area (Ref. AMM TASK 72-00-00-210-813).
(2) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the engine exhaust area (Ref. AMM TASK 72-00-00-210-812).
(3) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-220-802).
(4) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the Turbine Exhaust Case (TEC) module (Ref. AMM TASK 72-54-00-210-802).
(5) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the fuel distribution system (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-00-281-801).
(6) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the FADEC system (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-210-803).
(7) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the FADEC system wiring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-200-805).
(8) Do a GVI general visual inspection of the ignition system (Ref. AMM TASK 74-00-00-210-801).
