A. Cleaning of the Engine External Surfaces
(1) Hydrocarbon method
2 For all the other parts:
a Clean manually with a cloth moist with only isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) to permit handling and inspection.
b Remove the accumulation with a clean lint-free cloth (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
c Wipe the cleaned area dry with a clean lint-free cloth (Material No.CPNCL02069) or rinse with clean water.
(2) Steam cleaning method
(b) Steam clean the accessible external surfaces of the engine in accordance with ESPM 205500. To prevent any damage to exposed plastic parts, avoid dwelling of steam on such parts to minimize excessive build-up of heat.
(c) Remove CAP - PROTECTION that you have installed in step 4.A.(2)(a).
5. Close-up(1) Hydrocarbon method
WARNING:
HYDROCARBONS ARE FLAMMABLE AND TOXIC. AVOID PROLONGED CONTACT WITH THE SKIN AND OBSERVE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT PLASTICS AND RUBBER-BASE MATERIALS ARE NOT DAMAGED BY HYDROCARBON SOLVENTS. IF THEY ARE, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Light quantities of grease, oil, gum and dirt can be removed as follows: NOTE: This method is not good in the removal of baked-on oil deposits.
1 For metallic parts without coating or component made of non metallic material: CAUTION:
DO NOT USE METHANOL. IF YOU DO, THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO ENGINE TITANIUM PARTS.
a Clean manually with a cloth moist with only acetone (Material No.CP1039) or methyl ethyl ketone (Material No.CP1040) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or ethanol. 2 For all the other parts:
