(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure

CAUTION: HOLD THE THRUST LINK TO PREVENT HARD CONTACT WITH THE ENGINE DURING THE STEPS THAT FOLLOW. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE (SCRATCHES) TO THE ENGINE CASE.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE GREASE OR OIL ON ANY PARTS OF THESE ASSEMBLIES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

CAUTION: FOR EACH WASHER, MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT PART NUMBER AT THE CORRECT LOCATION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE PIN CAN MOVE OUT FROM ITS POSITION.

A. Preparation before Installation
(1) Make sure that the 98D71203017000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR PW is installed.
(a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.

Subtask 71-21-41-420-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

B. Installation of the Forward Mount Thrust-Link

NOTE: These procedures are for the left thrust link. The right side is opposite.

(1) Position the left thrust link on the yoke lug.
(a) Install the pin (9) on the yoke lug side.
(b) Install the screw (7), the two washers (8) and (10), and the nut (11).
(c) TORQUE the nut (11) to between 2.23 and 1.79 m.daN (16.45 and 13.20 lbf.ft )

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.

(d) Install the new cotter pin:
1 FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
AIPC 71-21-86-01-010 PIN (12)
2 FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
AIPC 71-21-86-02-010 PIN (12).
(e) Make sure that the two washers (8) and (10) cover fully the shoulder of the bushes.
(2) Position the left thrust link on the engine intermediate case lugs.
(a) Install the pin (3) on the engine intermediate case lug side.
(b) Install the screw (1), the two washers (2) and (4), and the nut (5).
(c) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 2.23 and 1.79 m.daN (16.45 and 13.20 lbf.ft )

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.

(d) Install the new cotter pin:
1 FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
AIPC 71-21-86-01-010 PIN (6)
2 FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
AIPC 71-21-86-02-010 PIN (6).
(e) Make sure that the two washers (2) and (4) cover fully the shoulder of the bushes.
(3) Remove the 98D71203017000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR PW.
