A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the flight controls is in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are retracted fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded (Ref. AMM TASK 12-34-24-869-002).
   (4) Make sure that the Green and the Blue hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
   (5) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (6) Make sure that the safety collars on the circuit breakers 9CV and 11CV are removed.
   (7) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable zone 575 (675).
   (8) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed:
   (9) Make sure that the applicable aileron has been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-14-41-000-001).

4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
Subtask 57-51-31-420-050-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and or the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Examine the bushes in each hinge bracket for damage. If necessary replace the bushes SRM 517212.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed components are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 57-51-31-420-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Aileron-Hinge Support Frames 4 and 5
   (1) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the mating surfaces of the bolts (1) and (13).
   (2) Install the support frames (4) and (8) onto the mounting brackets with the items that follow:
  • The bolts (1) and (13)
  • The nuts (12) and (15).
NOTE: The heads of the bolts (1) and (13) must face inboard.
NOTE: Finger tighten the nuts (12) and (15). If necessary tighten the nuts (12) and (15) again to align the nuts (12) and (15) with the cotter pin hole.
   (3) Safety the nut (12) with the new AIPC 57-51-05-96-080 COTTER PIN (11) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-96-150 COTTER PIN (11).
   (4) Safety the nut (15) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-73-080 COTTER PIN (14) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-73-150 COTTER PIN (14).
   (5) Connect the bonding leads (2), (7) and (10) to the support frames (4) and (8) with the bolts (3) and (9) and the nuts (5) and (6) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 57-51-31-420-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Aileron-Hinge Support Frames 4 and 5
   (1) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the mating surfaces of the bolts (1) and (13).
   (2) Install the support frames (4) and (8) onto the mounting brackets with the items that follow:
  • The bolts (1) and (13)
  • The nuts (12) and (15).
NOTE: The heads of the bolts (1) and (13) must face inboard.
NOTE: Finger tighten the nuts (12) and (15). If necessary tighten the nuts (12) and (15) again to align the nuts (12) and (15) with the cotter pin hole.
   (3) Safety the nut (12) with the new AIPC 57-51-05-96-080 COTTER PIN (11) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-96-150 COTTER PIN (11).
   (4) Safety the nut (15) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-73-080 COTTER PIN (14) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-73-150 COTTER PIN (14).
   (5) Connect the bonding leads (2), (7) and (10) to the support frames (4) and (8) with the bolts (3) and (9) and the nuts (5) and (6) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

C. Installation of the Aileron-Hinge Support Frames 1, 2 and 3
   (1) Install the support frames (7), (12) and (17) onto the mounting brackets with the items that follow:
  • The bolts (21), (25) and (30)
  • The washers (20), (24), (28)
  • The nuts (19), (23) and (27).
NOTE: The heads of the bolts (21), (25) and (30) must face inboard.
   (2) Make sure that the datum of the aileron-hinge support frames 1, 2 and 3 is aligned with:
  • The datum of the aileron-hinge support frames 4 and 5.
   (3) TORQUE the nuts (19), (23) and (27) to between 0.4 and 0.25 m.daN (35.40 and 22.12 lbf.in ) T.
   (4) Safety the nut (19) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-70-100 COTTER PIN (18) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-70-210 COTTER PIN (18).
   (5) Safety the nut (23) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-70-100 COTTER PIN (22) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-70-210 COTTER PIN (22).
   (6) Safety the nut (27) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-69-280 COTTER PIN (26) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-69-390 COTTER PIN (26).
   (7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) to the mating surfaces of the tie-beam assembly (31) and the support frames (7), (12) and (17).
   (8) If a structural change is done adjacent to the aileron-hinge support frames 1 to 5 (panel replacement or repair, aileron-hinge support-frame replacement and/or new tie-beam installation):
   (9) Make sure that the washers (6), (9) and (14) are installed as noted in the removal procedure.
   (10) Install the tie-beam assembly (31) onto the support frames (7), (12) and (17) with the items that follow:
  • The bolts (8), (13) and (33)
  • The washers (6), (9) and (14)
  • The nuts (5), (11) and (16).
   (11) TORQUE the nuts (5), (11) and (16) to between 0.6 and 0.5 m.daN (53.10 and 44.25 lbf.in ) T.
   (12) If necessary, drill a hole with a diameter between 1.93 mm (0.076 in.) and 2.18 mm (0.086 in.) in the bolts (8), (13) and (33).
   (13) Remove the burrs from the drilled holes.
   (14) Safety the nut (5) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-69-100 COTTER PIN (4) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-69-370 COTTER PIN (4).
   (15) Safety the nut (11) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-69-100 COTTER PIN (10) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-69-370 COTTER PIN (10).
   (16) Safety the nut (16) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-69-100 COTTER PIN (15) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-69-370 COTTER PIN (15).
   (17) Connect the rear end of the strut (32) to the lug on the support frame (7) with the items that follow:
  • The bolt (1)
  • The nut (3).
NOTE: Finger tighten the nut (3). If necessary tighten the nut (3) again to align the cotter pin hole.
   (18) Safety the nut (3) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-69-010 COTTER PIN (2) or the new AIPC 57-51-85-69-370 COTTER PIN (2).

E. Pressurize the Hydraulic Systems
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).
   (2) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003).

   (1) Do an operational test on the ailerons (Ref. AMM TASK 27-14-00-710-001). During the operational test, make sure that the ailerons move correctly.
   (2) Install the safety collar on the circuit breakers 9CV and 11CV.

   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS.
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
