  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) ON THE INSPECTION AREA. IF YOU APPLY TPS ON THE INSPECTION AREA, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable flap track fairings, zones 531 (631) 532 (632) and 533 (633).

E. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • the aft attachment of the flap track 2 on the wing bottom skin at the false rear spar
  • the aft attachment fittings of the flap tracks 3 and 4 at the rear spar.
   (3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Flap Track 2, Aft Attachment Fittings on Wing Bottom Skin at False Rear Spar and Flap Track 3 & 4 Aft Attachment Fittings at Rear Spar
   (1) Examine the aft attachment fittings of the flap track 2 on the wing bottom skin at the false rear spar. Use a MIRROR - INSPECTION and a LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION to make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion
  • there are no cracks
  • the nuts and safety devices are in the correct condition
  • the protective treatment is in the correct condition.
   (2) Examine the aft attachment fittings of the flap tracks 3 and 4 at the rear spar. Use a MIRROR - INSPECTION and a LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION to make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion
  • there are no cracks
  • the nuts and safety devices are in the correct condition
  • the protective treatment is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572600 for the correct repair procedure.
