A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) Obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats or flaps.
(4) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable wing fuel tank, zone 540(640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

for the left wing, remove 540CB 540DB 540EB 540FB 540GB
for the right wing, remove 640CB 640DB 640EB 640FB 640GB.

D. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Remove unwanted sealant from the access panel cut-outs and the panel interfaces.
(2) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(3) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:

the interfaces of the access panel cut-outs in the wing skin (3)
the interfaces of the access panels (1)
the clamp rings (5) and the bolts (6).

(4) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

Subtask 57-21-00-110-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

D. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Remove unwanted sealant from the access panel cut-outs and the panel interfaces.
(2) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(3) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:

the interfaces of the access panel assembly cut-outs in the wing skin (3)
the interfaces of the access panel assembly (1)
the access panel outers (5) and the bolts (6).

(4) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-21-00-210-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Bottom Skin, Upper and Lower Surfaces around Access Door Cutouts in Rib-Bays 8-9, 9-10, 10-11, 11-12 and 12-13
(1) Examine the upper and lower surfaces of the bottom wing skin at the access panel cut-outs. Make sure that:

there is no corrosion of the access panel (1) and the wing skin (3) interfaces
the sealing ring (2) is in good condition
the access hole edges in the wing skin (3) are not cracked or damaged
the knitted gasket (4) is in good condition
there is no damage to, or scoring of, the clamp ring (5) and the access panel (1) interface
the bolt (6) holes in the clamp ring (5) are not damaged
the paint finish is of the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

Subtask 57-21-00-210-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

there is no corrosion of the access panel assembly (1) and the wing skin (3) interfaces
the sealing ring (2) is in good condition
the access hole edges in the wing skin (3) are not cracked or damaged
the knitted gasket (4) is in good condition
there is no damage to, or scoring of, the access panel outer (5) and the access panel assembly (1) interface
the bolt (6) holes in the access panel outer (5) are not damaged
the paint finish is of the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001):

for the left wing, install 540CB 540DB 540EB 540FB 540GB
for the right wing, install 640CB 640DB 640EB 640FB 640GB.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Refuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), defuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) as necessary.

C. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
