A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(3) Put on a safety harness:
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 12M (40 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at Zone 360.
(5) Make sure that, if necessary, the vertical stabilizer tip is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 55-34-11-000-001).
Subtask 55-44-11-865-052-A (1) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized

(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(3) Put on a safety harness:
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
(a) Put on and attach a safety harness before you start work in the work area. (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 12M (40 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at Zone 360.
(5) Make sure that, if necessary, the vertical stabilizer tip is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 55-34-11-000-001).
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

A. Install the Rudder Tip
(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(5) Apply the Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) to the mating surfaces of the rudder tip (1).
(6) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the mating surfaces of the rudder (8).
(7) Put the rudder tip (1) in position.
(8) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the screws (5) and (6).
(9) Install the screws (6).
(10) TORQUE the screw (6) to between 0.25 and 0.15 m.daN (22.12 and 13.27 lbf.in )

(11) Install the screws (5), the washers (4) and the nuts (3).
(12) Make sure that the electrical bonding between the rudder tip (1) and the rudder is not more than the maximum permitted value (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-869-002).
(13) If removed, install the static discharger (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-61-41-400-001).
(14) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) around the rudder tip assembly.

(8) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the screws (5) and (6).
(9) Install the screws (6).
(10) TORQUE the screw (6) to between 0.25 and 0.15 m.daN (22.12 and 13.27 lbf.in )
. (11) Install the screws (5), the washers (4) and the nuts (3).
(12) Make sure that the electrical bonding between the rudder tip (1) and the rudder is not more than the maximum permitted value (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-869-002).
(13) If removed, install the static discharger (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-61-41-400-001).
(14) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) around the rudder tip assembly.

(9) Install the screws (5), (6) and (7), the washers (4) and the nuts (3).
(10) TORQUE the screws (5), (6) and (7) to between 0.25 and 0.15 m.daN (22.12 and 13.27 lbf.in )

(11) Make sure that the electrical bonding between the rudder tip (1) and the rudder is not more than the maximum permitted value (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-869-002).
(12) If removed, install the static discharger (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-61-41-400-001).
(13) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) around the rudder tip (1).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(5) Apply the material Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) to the mating surfaces of the rudder tip (1).
(6) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the mating surfaces of the rudder (9).
(7) Put the rudder tip (1) in position.
(8) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the screws (5), (6) and (7).
(9) Install the screws (5), (6) and (7), the washers (4) and the nuts (3).
(10) TORQUE the screws (5), (6) and (7) to between 0.25 and 0.15 m.daN (22.12 and 13.27 lbf.in )
. (11) Make sure that the electrical bonding between the rudder tip (1) and the rudder is not more than the maximum permitted value (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-869-002).
(12) If removed, install the static discharger (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-61-41-400-001).
(13) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) around the rudder tip (1).
