Subtask 54-57-22-941-101-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
447AL 448AR.
   (2) Open the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
461AL 462AR.
   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
   (4) Remove the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-000-815):
     (a) For the left pylon: 473AL 473AR
     (b) For the right pylon: 483AL 483AR.
   (5) Remove the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-000-818).
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-57-22-300-051-A
A. Replacement of the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) Finger-seals
   (1) Remove the screws (1), (9), (10) and (11).
   (2) Remove the finger-seal strips (4) and (5).
   (3) Remove the used finger-seals (3), (2), (6) and (7) and discard them.
   (4) Put the new AIPC 54-56-81-31-043 SEAL (7) and AIPC 54-56-81-31-045 SEAL (2) and AIPC 54-56-81-31-047 SEAL (6), or AIPC 54-56-81-31-123 SEAL (7) and AIPC 54-56-81-31-125 SEAL (2) and AIPC 54-56-81-31-127 SEAL (6), or AIPC 54-56-81-32-043 SEAL (7) and AIPC 54-56-81-32-045 SEAL (2) and AIPC 54-56-81-32-047 SEAL (6), or AIPC 54-56-81-32-123 SEAL (7) and AIPC 54-56-81-32-125 SEAL (2) and AIPC 54-56-81-32-127 SEAL (6) in position.
   (5) Put the finger-seal strip (5) in position.
   (6) Install the screws (1), (9) and (10) but do not fully tighten them at this time.
   (7) Make sure that the finger-seal (7) is aligned with the edge of the finger-seal strip (5).
   (8) Push on the finger-seal (7) to simulate the closed position of the thrust-reverser cowl doors.
   (9) Make sure that overlap J1 between the finger-seal (7) and the RMF door assembly (8) is 5 -0.5 mm or +0.5 mm (0.1969 -0.0197 in. or +0.0197 in.).
   (10) Tighten the screws (1).
   (11) Push on the finger-seals (6) and (7) to simulate the closed position of the thrust-reverser cowl doors.
   (12) Make sure that clearance J2 between the finger-seal (7) and the finger-seal (6) is 1 +0.5 mm or +1 mm (0.0394 +0.0197 in. or +0.0394 in.).
   (13) Tighten the screws (9).
   (14) Push on the finger-seals (6) and (2) to simulate the closed position of the thrust-reverser cowl doors.
   (15) Make sure that clearance J3 between the finger-seal (6) and the finger-seal (2) is 1 -0.5 mm or +1 mm (0.0394 -0.0197 in. or +0.0394 in.).
   (16) Make sure that the finger-seal (2) does not exceed the RMF door assembly (8).
   (17) Tighten the screws (10).
   (18) Make sure that the overlap and the clearances continue to be in the tolerances.
   (19) If the overlap or the clearances are out of the tolerances, do as follows:
     (a) Loosen the screws (1).
     (b) Do steps (7) thru (10) again.
     (c) Loosen the screws (9).
     (d) Do steps (11) thru (13) again.
     (e) Loosen the screws (10).
     (f) Do steps (14) thru (18) again.
   (20) Put the new
AIPC 54-56-81-31-085 SEAL (3) or AIPC 54-56-81-31-155 SEAL (3) or AIPC 54-56-81-32-085 SEAL (3) or AIPC 54-56-81-32-155 SEAL (3) in position.
   (21) Put the finger-seal strip (4) in position.
   (22) Install the screws (11) and tighten them.
5. Close-up

   (1) Install the RMF assembly (
Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-400-818).
   (2) Install the RMF doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-400-815):
     (a) For the left pylon: 473AL 473AR
     (b) For the right pylon: 483AL 483AR.
   (3) Close the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
