A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
451AL 452AR
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
461AL 462AR.
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 415
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 425.

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

E. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
451AL 452AR
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
461AL 462AR.
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 415
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 425.
   (3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
     (a) For the left pylon: 415AL 415BL 415AR 415BR
     (b) For the right pylon: 425AL 425BL 425AR 425BR.
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-57-22-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Apron Assemblies on the Left Pylon
   (1) Removal of the hats-section assembly (41) and (44).
F Seal and Retainer Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the bolts (43),(45) and the washers (42),(46).
     (b) Remove the seal and retainer assemblies (41) and (44).
   (2) Removal of the aft apron assemblies (51) and (63).
F Apron Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the bolts (61) and the washers (62).
     (b) Remove the bolts (54) and the washers (55).
     (c) Remove the screws (58).
     (d) Remove the brackets (56) and (60) from the forward aprons.
     (e) Remove the bolts (53) and the washers (52).
     (f) Remove the aft apron (51) and (63).
     (g) Remove the forward aprons (57) and (59).
NOTE: Do the same procedure for the removal of the right pylon.
Subtask 54-57-22-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Apron Assemblies
   (1) Remove the angle assemblies (1) and (4) from the pylon. To do this:
F Angle Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Hold the angle assemblies (1) and (4) that are installed on the pylon.
     (b) Remove the bolts (3) and the washers (2).
     (c) Remove the bolt (6) and the washer (5).
     (d) Remove the angle assemblies (1) and (4).
   (2) Remove the welded assemblies from the pylon. To do this:
F Welded Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Remove the profiles (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-000-003).
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
     (b) Hold the aft angle (38) that is installed on the pylon between RIB1 and RIB5.
     (c) Remove the nut (17), the screw (55) and the washer (56).
     (d) Remove the nut (18), the bolt (53) and the washer (54).
     (e) Remove the nut (19), the bolt (51) and the washer (52).
     (f) Remove the nut (34), the bolt (47) and the washer (48).
     (g) Remove the nut (35), the bolt (45) and the washer (46).
     (h) Remove the nuts (33), the bolts (43) and the washers (44).
     (i) Remove the nuts (37), the screws (39) and the washers (40).
     (j) Remove the nuts (20), the screws (49) and the washers (50).
     (k) Remove the nuts (36), the screws (41) and the washers (42).
     (l) Remove the aft angle (38) from the pylon between RIB1 and RIB5.
     (m) Hold the forward angle (14) that is installed on the pylon between RIB06 and RIB1.
     (n) Remove the nut (7), the screw (9) and the washer (8).
     (o) Remove the screws (15) and the washers (16).
     (p) Remove the screws (10) and the washers (11).
     (q) Remove the screws (12) and the washers (13).
     (r) Remove the forward angle (14) from the pylon between RIB06 and RIB1.
   (3) Remove the forward apron assemblies (21) and (32) from the pylon. To do this:
F Forward Apron Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Hold the front angle assemblies (24) and (31) that are installed on the forward apron assemblies (21) and (32).
     (b) Remove the bolts (27) and the washers (28).
     (c) Remove the front angle assemblies (24) and (31) from the forward apron assemblies (21) and (32).
     (d) Hold the forward apron assemblies (21) and (32) that are installed on the pylon.
     (e) Remove the bolts (26) and the washers (25).
     (f) Remove the bolts (23) and the washers (22).
     (g) Remove the bolts (29) and the washers (30).
     (h) Remove the forward apron assemblies (21) and (32) from the pylon.
