Removal of the Aft Fixed Fairing
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
THE WEIGHT OF THE FIXED FAIRING IS 34kg (75lb).
WARNING:
HEAVY WEIGHT. MINIMUM 2 PERSONS OR ASSISTED HANDLING REQUIRED.

THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-54-00-040-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041). C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-54-00-010-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471CL 475AL 475BL 475CL, 472BR, 476AR 476BR 476CR
(b) For the right pylon: 481BL 485AL 485BL 485CL, 482CR 486AR 486BR 486CR.
Subtask 54-54-00-010-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471CL 475AL 475BL 475CL, 472BR, 476AR 476BR 476CR
(b) For the right pylon: 481BL 485AL 485BL 485CL, 482CR 486AR 486BR 486CR.
D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471DL 475AL 475BL, 471CR 475AR 475BR
(b) For the right pylon: 481CL 485AL 485BL, 481DR 485AR 485BR.
Subtask 54-54-00-020-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471DL 475AL 475BL, 471CR 475AR 475BR
(b) For the right pylon: 481CL 485AL 485BL, 481DR 485AR 485BR.
E. Removal of the Fairings
(1) Remove the aft movable fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-55-00-000-001).
(2) Remove the lower fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-00-000-001).
Subtask 54-54-00-020-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the aft movable fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-55-00-000-001).
(2) Remove the lower fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-00-000-001).
E. Removal of the Fairings
(1) Remove the aft movable fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-55-00-000-001).
(2) Remove the lower fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-00-000-002).

(2) Remove the lower fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-00-000-002).
F. Disconnection of the Drain Lines

(1) Disconnect the two drain lines (21) and (22).
(2) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.

G. Removal of the Components
(1) Remove the plate (43). To do this:
(a) Remove the nuts (42) and the bolts (41).
(2) Disconnect the pylon mount upper-fitting (46). To do this:
(a) Remove the nuts (45) and the bolts (44).

(a) Remove the nuts (42) and the bolts (41).
(2) Disconnect the pylon mount upper-fitting (46). To do this:
(a) Remove the nuts (45) and the bolts (44).
G. Removal of the Components

(1) Remove the plate (43). To do this:
(a) Remove the bolts (41) and the washers (42).
(2) Disconnect the pylon mount upper-fitting (46). To do this:
(a) Remove the nuts (45) and the bolts (44).

(2) Disconnect the pylon mount upper-fitting (46). To do this:
(a) Remove the nuts (45) and the bolts (44).

(1) Remove the screw (17) and the washer (18).
(2) Disconnect the bonding lead (19).
(3) Remove the nut (13) and the bolt (11).
(4) Remove the nut (16), the washer (15), the bolt (14) and the washer (12).
(5) Loosen the nuts (7) and (8).
(6) Remove the nuts (10) ant the bolts (9).
(7) Remove the aft fixed fairing.

(3) Remove the nut (13) and the bolt (11).
(4) Remove the nut (16), the washer (15), the bolt (14) and the washer (12).
(5) Loosen the nuts (7) and (8).
(6) Remove the nuts (10) ant the bolts (9).
(7) Remove the aft fixed fairing.
