A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position:
(a) At zone 410 for the left pylon,
(b) At zone 420 for the right pylon.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser

WARNING: MAKE THE THRUST REVERSER UNSERVICEABLE. IF THE THRUST REVERSER IS NOT MADE UNSERVICEABLE, IT CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY BECAUSE THE BLOCKER DOOR HOLD-OPEN ROD DOES NOT RESIST THE ACTUATOR HYDRAULIC PRESSURE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-013).

D. Preparation for Installation
(1) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the flange and the front panel that touches the seal.
(2) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to dry the area.

4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Seal

(1) Apply Contact Adhesive-Rubber & Plastic Bonding Neoprene base - (Material No.05JBC9) to the flange.
(2) Engage the new seal (1) on the edge of the flange.
