3. Job Set-up
Subtask 54-51-17-941-074-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that you obeyed the instructions of the fuel safety procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (4) Make sure that the aircraft is stable (Ref. AMM TASK 05-57-00-200-001).

B. Removal of the Access Panels and Doors
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zones 410 and 470
     (b) For the right pylon, in zones 420 and 480.
   (2) Make sure that the pylon-to-wing access panels and doors are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
     (a) For the left pylon: 413ET 471AL 471BL 472AR
     (b) For the right pylon: 423ET 481AL 482AR 482BR.

C. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) If they are not sufficiently clean, clean the parts retained from the removed component with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make sure that the nuts (13) are in the correct condition. If necessary, replace the AIPC 54-51-87-31-030 NUTS (13) (left) and AIPC 54-51-87-32-030 NUTS (13) (right).
NOTE: If installed, it is necessary to remove the 98D54403000000 DUMMY SHACKLES-PYLON TO WING YOKES and the 98D54403001000 DUMMY SLEEVES-PYLON TO WING YOKES.
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-51-17-420-094-A
A. Installation of the Pylon-to-Wing Forward Attach-Fittings at RIB5
CAUTION: USE BULLET PINS WHEN YOU INSTALL THE SLEEVES. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE THREADS.
   (1) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the sleeves, the spigot and all the friction surfaces.
   (2) Put the shackles (17) in position.
   (3) Install the sleeves (15). Install the top sleeve first.
NOTE: You can install the sleeves more easily if you change the force that the jack applies to the attach-fittings.
NOTE: For the top attachments, the nuts, the cotter pins and the lockwashers are installed in the outer side of the pylons (always symmetrically to the pylon centerline).
For the bottom attachments, the nuts, the cotter pins and the lockwashers are installed in the inner side of the pylons (always symmetrically to the pylon centerline).
   (4) Install new AIPC 54-51-87-31-040 TAB WASHERS (14) (left) and new AIPC 54-51-87-32-040 TAB WASHERS (14) (right).
   (5) Install the nuts (13).
   (6) Lock the sleeves (15) with a special wrench from the
98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
   (7) TORQUE the nuts (13) to between 5 and 4 m.daN (36.87 and 29.50 lbf.ft ) T. Use a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET and a torque wrench.
   (8) Bend the tab washers (14) to safety the nuts (13).
   (9) Install the fail-safe pins (16).
   (10) Lock the fail-safe pins (16) with a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
   (11) Install the nuts (12) with a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
   (12) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 5 and 4 m.daN (36.87 and 29.50 lbf.ft ) T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (13) Safety the nuts (12) with new
AIPC 54-51-87-31-010 COTTER PINS (11) (left) and new AIPC 54-51-87-32-010 COTTER PINS (11) (right).

A. Connection of the Fuel/Defuel System Components
WARNING: EXTREME CARE MUST BE EXERCISED WHEN INSTALLING THE O-RING SEALS. MISALIGNMENT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE WHICH CAN LEAD TO FUEL LEAKS.
   (1) Make sure that a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) is in position below the connections.
   (2) Connect the fuel line coupling to its connection adjacent to RIB5 of the pylon box. To do this:
     (a) Remove the blanking caps from the disconnected fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
     (b) Apply Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to:
     (c) Install the O-rings (11) and (12) on the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
     (d) Install the pipe (22) on the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33). To do this:
       1 Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
       2 Install the O-rings (24) and (25) on the pipe (22).
       3 Install new
AIPC 28-21-86-50-150 RETAINING RINGS (26) (left) and new AIPC 28-21-86-51-150 RETAINING RINGS (26) (right) on the pipe (22).
       4 Install new
AIPC 28-21-86-50-150 RETAINING RINGS (13) (left) and new AIPC 28-21-86-51-150 RETAINING RINGS (13) (right) on the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
       5 Align the pipe (22) with the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
       6 Make sure that clearance A1 between the fuel pipe assembly (32) and the pipe (22) is 5 +3 mm or -3 mm (0.1969 +0.1181 in. or -0.1181 in.).
       7 Make sure that the clearance between the fuel pipe assembly (33) and the pipe (22) is 5 +3 mm or -3 mm (0.1969 +0.1181 in. or -0.1181 in.).
       8 Install the nuts (16) and (27) on the pipe (22) and the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
       9 Put and hold the connectors (28) in correct position.
       10 Tighten the nuts (16) and (27) with your hand.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       11 Safety the nuts (16) and (27) to the connectors (28) with the 14QDC1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES -.
     (e) Move the sleeves (29) down.
     (f) Put the clamps (14) in position.
     (g) Install the washers (30) and the bolts (31).
     (h) Install the nuts (15) and tighten them.
     (i) Install the clamps (17) on the pipe (22).
     (j) Do the electrical bonding at the applicable location on the clamps (17) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (k) Put the bonding straps (18), (19) and (23) in position.
     (l) Install the bolts (20) on the clamps (17).
     (m) Install the nuts (21) and tighten them.
   (3) Connect the fuel recirculation check-valve to its connection adjacent to RIB7 of the pylon box (Ref. AMM TASK 28-16-42-400-001).

B. Installation of the Electrical Connectors and the Rods
   (1) Put the rods (10) and (14) in position.
   (2) Install the bolts (15).
   (3) Install the washers (11) and the nuts (12).
   (4) Install the sleeves (7) and the bolts (8).
   (5) Install the washers (6) and the nuts (5).
   (6) Tighten the nuts (12) and (5).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (7) Safety the nuts (12) and (5) with new AIPC 36-11-85-01-510 COTTER PINS (4) and AIPC 36-11-85-01-510 COTTER PINS (13).
   (8) Install the clamps (1).
   (9) Install the clamps (9) on the rod (10).
   (10) Install the washers (2) and the bolts (3).
   (11) Install the nuts (16) and tighten them.
   (12) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (13) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (14) Connect electrical connectors 6HA1-B (6HA2-B) (17) and 6HA1-A (6HA2-A) (18) to the temperature sensors.

C. Installation of the Components
   (1) Install the engine (
Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-51-400-803).
   (2) Install the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-803):
