A. Removal of the PMG and Cooling Fan Assembly
CAUTION: YOU MUST USE TWO WRENCHES AND HOLD THE COMPONENT WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PIPE COUPLINGS AND/OR UNIONS. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT.
   (1) Remove the PMG and cooling fan assembly (compartment cooling valve installed - On APUs with the Mod 6 Dot on the modification plate).
     (a) Disconnect electrical connector P28 (8) from the cooling fan (12).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Disconnect the tube (11) from the cooling valve (3).
     (d) Disconnect the clamp (4) from the cooling valve duct (5).
     (e) Remove the two bolts (9) and remove the cooling valve (3).
     (f) Disconnect the clamps (2) and (10) and remove the fan inlet duct (1).
     (g) Disconnect the clamp (7) from the fan outlet duct (6).
     (h) Disconnect the clamp (15) and remove the cooling fan (12).
     (i) Remove and discard the packings (13) and (14).
     (j) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (2) Remove the PMG and cooling fan assembly (compartment cooling valve not installed and the cooling valve duct installed - On APUs with the Mod 6 Dot deleted on the modification plate).
     (a) Disconnect electrical connector P28 (8) from the cooling fan (12).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Disconnect the clamp (4) from the cooling valve duct (5).
     (d) Remove the two bolts (19) and remove the cooling duct (18).
     (e) Disconnect the clamps (2) and (10) and remove the fan inlet duct (1).
     (f) Disconnect the clamp (7) from the fan outlet duct (6).
     (g) Disconnect the clamp (15) and remove the cooling fan (12).
     (h) Remove and discard the packings (13) and (14).
     (i) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (3) Remove the PMG and cooling fan assembly (compartment cooling valve and cooling valve duct not installed).
     (a) Disconnect electrical connector P28 (8) from the cooling fan (12).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Disconnect the clamps (2) and (10) and remove the fan inlet duct (1).
     (d) Disconnect the clamp (7) from the fan outlet duct (6).
     (e) Disconnect the clamp (15) and remove the cooling fan (12).
     (f) Remove and discard the packings (13) and (14).
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (4) Do a visual inspection of the fan gear for too much wear or missing teeth. If you find too much wear or if there are missing teeth, install the cooling fan (12) again and replace the APU [4005KM] (Ref. AMM TASK 49-11-11-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-11-11-400-003).
   (5) Do a visual inspection of the gearbox gear that engages with the fan gear for too much wear or missing teeth. If you find too much wear or if there are missing teeth, install the cooling fan (12) again and replace the APU [4005KM] (Ref. AMM TASK 49-11-11-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-11-11-400-003).
