A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) On the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 49-51-52-865-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

C. Get Access
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the APU compartment.
(3) Make sure that the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(4) Make sure that the light switch 11LJ is in the ON position.
4. ProcedureWARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
(1) Make sure that the 98L12003001000 HARNESS,SAFETY is put and attached before you start work in the work area.(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the APU compartment.
(3) Make sure that the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(4) Make sure that the light switch 11LJ is in the ON position.
Subtask 49-51-52-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Surge Control Valve
(1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(2) Position the AIPC 49-51-09-01-060 SEAL (10) or AIPC 49-51-84-30-060 SEAL (10) on the valve (11).
(3) Put the valve (11) into position and align with the marks on the ducts.
(4) Install the clamp (9) and (12).
(5) TORQUE the clamp (9) to between 0.46 and 0.44 m.daN (40.71 and 38.94 lbf.in )

(6) TORQUE the clamp (12) to between 1.10 and 1.00 m.daN (97.35 and 88.50 lbf.in )
.
(7) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-21-09-02-130 O-RINGS (1) or AIPC 49-21-84-30-220 PACKING (1), AIPC 49-21-09-02-150 O-RINGS (5) or AIPC 49-21-84-30-240 PACKING (5) and AIPC 49-21-09-02-150 O-RINGS (8) or AIPC 49-21-84-30-240 PACKING (8) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
(8) Install the O-rings on the pipes (4), (6) and (7).
(9) Position the pipes (4), (6) and (7) into the valve (11).
(10) Install the pipe clamp (2) and tighten the captive bolts (3).
(11) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.60 and 0.54 m.daN (53.10 and 47.79 lbf.in )
(12) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(13) Connect the electrical connector (13) to the valve (11).
Subtask 49-51-52-865-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.

(8) Install the O-rings on the pipes (4), (6) and (7).
(9) Position the pipes (4), (6) and (7) into the valve (11).
(10) Install the pipe clamp (2) and tighten the captive bolts (3).
(11) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.60 and 0.54 m.daN (53.10 and 47.79 lbf.in )

(12) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(13) Connect the electrical connector (13) to the valve (11).
B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. BITE Test of the Surge Control System.
(1) Energize the CFDS to get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page for the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-001)
(2) Set the APU MASTER SW 14KD to ON.
(3) Do this Test.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set the light switch 11LJ to the OFF position.
(3) Close APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove safety harness.
Subtask 49-51-52-860-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set the light switch 11LJ to the OFF position.

(2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
