   (1) Installation of the starter motor with nuts and washers:
     (a) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (b) Lubricate the starter-motor drive shaft-splines and the clutch assembly internal-splines with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
     (c) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) on the new AIPC 49-42-09-01-030 PACKING (21) or AIPC 49-42-84-30-020 PACKING (21).
     (d) Install the packing (21) on the starter motor (19).
     (e) Remove the COVER - BLANKING from the gearbox starter-motor mount-flange.
     (f) Install the starter motor (19) in the gearbox.
     (g) Make sure that the location pin (20) engages correctly.
     (h) Push the starter motor (19) to fully engage it in the accessory drive gearbox.
     (i) Attach the starter motor (19) to the gearbox with the V-clamp (12).
     (j) TORQUE the V-clamp (12) to between 0.70 and 0.66 m.daN (61.95 and 58.41 lbf.in )
T.
     (k) Connection of the electrical leads:
CAUTION: REFER TO THE MATCH MARKS MADE DURING THE REMOVAL WHEN YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF THE WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE STARTER MOTOR AND BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE WASHERS AND THE NUTS, OR THE FLANGE NUTS, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ELECTRICAL LEADS ARE IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE STARTER MOTOR COPPER STRIP, AND
  • THE MONITORING CABLE IS IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE POSITIVE ELECTRICAL LEAD.
AN INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE POSITIVE/NEGATIVE ELECTRICAL LEADS OR MONITORING CABLE WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE STARTER MOTOR.
1 Make sure that the terminal studs of the starter motor (19), lugs of electrical leads (16), (17) and (22), nuts (14) and (24) and washers (15) and (23) are in the correct condition. If not, replace them.
2 If there is too much tension in the positive electrical lead, carefully pull the positive electrical lead from FR80 until you can attach the cable correctly.
3 Put the positive electrical-lead terminal-lug (17) and the monitoring lead (16) in position on the positive terminal stud.
4 Make sure that the positive electrical-lead terminal-lug (17) fully touches the starter motor copper-strip before you install the washer (15) and the nut (14).
5 Install the washer (15) and the nut (14). Do not torque the nut (14) at this time.
6 Put the negative electrical-lead terminal-lug (22) in position on the negative terminal stud.
7 Install the washer (23) and the nut (24). Do not torque the nut (24) at this time.
