DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
LOCK THE MECHANISM OF THE ACCESS DOOR 316AR WITH THE PIP PIN WHEN YOU OPEN THE ACCESS DOOR. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) On overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 49-21-00-865-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

C. Get Access
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(3) Open APU access doors 315AL and 316AR
(Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(4) Set the light switch 11LJ to the ON position.
4. ProcedureWARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
(1) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(3) Open APU access doors 315AL and 316AR
(Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(4) Set the light switch 11LJ to the ON position.

B. Removal of the Oil Transfer Tubes
(a) When you loosen the B-nut (3) on the oil line (4) that attaches to the oil transfer tube (2) it is important to use two wrenches to prevent the movement of the oil transfer tube (2) to rear bearing housing.
(2) Loosen and remove the oil transfer tube (2).
(3) Use the TOOL PICK or the AID00435 SEAL EXTRACTOR to remove the seal (1).
(a) If it does not come out with the removal of the oil transfer tube (2), discard the copper seal (1).
(b) Engage the spiral flute into copper-seal inner diameter, then turn and push a sufficient small distance to connect the seal.
(a) Do not use any cleaning agent. Use the Dry-Cloth to clean the rear-bearing box seal-face.
Subtask 49-21-00-210-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: This removal procedure is applicable to the oil scavenge transfer-tube (6 o'clock position), oil supply transfer-tube (11 o'clock position) and oil vent transfer-tube (1 o'clock position).
(1) Loosen the B-nut (3) on the oil line (4) to the oil transfer tube (2) and disconnect the oil line (4). (a) When you loosen the B-nut (3) on the oil line (4) that attaches to the oil transfer tube (2) it is important to use two wrenches to prevent the movement of the oil transfer tube (2) to rear bearing housing.
(2) Loosen and remove the oil transfer tube (2).
(3) Use the TOOL PICK or the AID00435 SEAL EXTRACTOR to remove the seal (1).
(a) If it does not come out with the removal of the oil transfer tube (2), discard the copper seal (1).
(b) Engage the spiral flute into copper-seal inner diameter, then turn and push a sufficient small distance to connect the seal.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE REAR-BEARING BOX SEAL-FACE.
(4) Clean the boss that has a thread and surfaces near it into the rear-bearing housing. (a) Do not use any cleaning agent. Use the Dry-Cloth to clean the rear-bearing box seal-face.
C. Visual inspection
(1) Do a visual inspection of the transfer tube and connection tube for any sign of damage.
(2) If transfer tube thread is damaged, must be replaced.
