A. For P/N 119003-series: Visual Check of the Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE)
(1) Read the date on the identification label. Replace the PBE if its life time is expired.
(2) Visually examine the foil bag through the transparent door:
(a) Make sure that the vacuum seal of the foil bag is tightly compressed. You can see a recess where the foil bag is put into the back of the oronasal mask cone.
(b) If the condition of the vacuum seal of the foil bag is unsatisfactory or you are not sure about its condition:
1 Open the container of the PBE, but do not remove the foil bag.
2 Examine the surfaces of the foil bag to make sure that it is vacuum sealed. If the foil bag is not vacuum sealed, replace it with a new one.
3 Close the container.
(3) Visually examine the container of the PBE:
(a) Do a check of the surfaces for nicks, cracks, dents, chafing areas or general deformation.
(b) Make sure that the transparent door is not matt and does not have any scratches.
(c) Replace the container if the component(s) of the breathing hood container is (are) damaged.
(d) Examine the tamper seal(s):
1 Open the container of the PBE, but do not remove the foil bag.
2 Examine the installed parts for damage, scratches, dents and nicks.
3 Examine the surfaces of the foil bag to make sure that it is vacuum sealed. If the foil bag is not vacuum sealed, replace it with a new one.
4 Close the container.
(4) If the tamper seal(s) is (are) broken, install a (the) new tamper seal(s).
Subtask 35-30-00-210-061-A (1) Read the date on the identification label. Replace the PBE if its life time is expired.
(2) Visually examine the foil bag through the transparent door:

(3) Visually examine the container of the PBE:
(a) Do a check of the surfaces for nicks, cracks, dents, chafing areas or general deformation.
(b) Make sure that the transparent door is not matt and does not have any scratches.
(c) Replace the container if the component(s) of the breathing hood container is (are) damaged.
(d) Examine the tamper seal(s):
NOTE: The tamper seal is a bonding strip or a lockwire which shows if the vacuum-sealed foil bag was removed from its container or not. In some configurations, no tamper seal is installed.
If the tamper seal is damaged or in a configuration without tamper seal:1 Open the container of the PBE, but do not remove the foil bag.
B. Visual Check of the Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE) (for PBE P/N different from 119-003-series)
(1) Look at the condition indicator through the inspection window of the PBE container.
(2) Replace the PBE if the condition indicator is red, pink or damaged.
(3) Read the date on the identification label. Replace the PBE if its life time is expired.
(4) Examine the container of the PBE:
(a) Examine the surfaces of the container for nicks, cracks, dents, chafing areas or general deformation.
(b) Examine the tamper seal(s) of the container:
1 Open the container, but do not remove the foil bag.
2 Examine the installed parts for damage, scratches, dents and nicks.
3 Make sure that the foil bag is vacuum sealed (the foil bag is tightly compressed and tight around the contents).
(c) Replace the PBE if the foil bag is not vacuum sealed.
(d) Send the container to the workshop if a component is damaged.
(5) If the tamper seal(s) is (are) broken, install a (the) new tamper seal(s).
5. Close-up(1) Look at the condition indicator through the inspection window of the PBE container.
NOTE: The tamper seal is a bonding strip, a lockwire or a latch which shows if the vacuum-sealed foil bag was removed from its container or not. In some configurations, no tamper seal is installed.
If the tamper seal is damaged or in a configuration without tamper seal:1 Open the container, but do not remove the foil bag.
2 Examine the installed parts for damage, scratches, dents and nicks.
